Sony FD Trinitron WEGA

I have atttemped to solve this problem myself but to no avail. When powered on the light on the tv blinks 5 times then 3 times then goes out. There is no sound and no picture. I have unplugged it for a period of time then plugged it back in as suggested by the dealer with no changes. Do you have any additional suggestions?

    TV will not turn on either by remote or the Power button on the front of the TV. The red blinking light continues. I have unplugged the power cord as suggested in the handbook. This did not help.

    I have a sony trinitron model KV-20FS100 that i bought a few years ago. It shut off on its own last night and I am unable to turn it back on. When I hit power on the remote it makes a noise like it's going to turn on but then it doesn't. Also after I hit the power button the red light next to the power button blinks quickly then slows down. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

U have a soldering iron,desoldering pump or a roll of desoldering braids,a roll of solders?Can u do basic soldering and uderstand basic electronic?FBT- the flyback transformer,the big black block of a plastic with a red wire with a cap hook to a CRT-tv picture tube.Near the big block of a plastic with a red wire with a cap hook to a CRT picture tube.Inside to the right of the FBT,there are 2 power supply ICS,those 2 ICS are dead.Replaced these 2 power supply ICS near the FBT,will solved this tv LED power light indication blinking and will have stable tv power again,and tv will work.

Here's my suggestion , unhook all the external components to the TV and leave the TV unplugged for more than a few minutes (a day/overnight). The next day plug the TV into the wall outlet (not the powerstrip) without anything hooked up to it, and turn it on. See if it comes on. Sometimes unplugging for a few minutes/hours is not long enough for it to reset itself.

Sony tv has self protection program. The red Led blinking light indicate the probable cause location. For this model it is either 2,4 or 5 flashes every 3 second. Please check the blinking again

Sony KP53HS10 5 blinks
Five blinks means "Video out abnormality detection". Possible problem areas are as follows:

Video out, IC7101, 7201, 7301 and others in C board circuit.
Q510, 516, 524 (A board).

There are actually three C boards, the CR, CG and CB boards. They are attached to the rear of the red, green and blue CRTs, respectively. I wouldnt attempt to repair the set myself. I would solicite the services of an authorized Sony servicenter.

If a red light flashes for more than a few minutes,disconnect and reconnect the power cord.
Check the TV/VIDEO settings
make sure you have inserted the batteries correctly to remote control.
Try another channel to rule out of station trouble.
if the problem continues may be a power supply problem.
