I bought a new harddrive and my hp nc6220 still says setup did not find any hard disk installed in computer how to fix

When i try to install my os it says setup did not find any hard disk installed in computer and it is a brand new hard drive

You have to check on your bios in advance chipset by pressing F2 or DEL after pressing the power button then go to advance bios, whether it's AHCI or IDE. If its set on IDE change to AHCI by changing the values based on your bios setting for example F5/F6 or page up/page down, or change from native to enhance something like that. Then save the bios settings like F10 or Esc then press Y. Then try installing again your operating system.

My hp compaq nc6220 is not able to boot to the OS. What could be done to resolve it?

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

I'm trying to install MAC OS 10.6.6, but it keeps on failing. It says it can't install. The new internal harddrive is a Samsung Hm500jj 500gb,harddrive. Please help?

Be sure to use the OS installation disks that came with your system initially.

You want to insert the CD or DVD that came with your computer
When you get to the first screen, look for the Utility dropdown menu at the top
Select erase and target the new Hard Drive
Select HFS+ as the file system and check the box for OS 9 drivers if you need them
Wait for a few seconds while the new drive is formatted
Then select this disk for installation in the wizard and install the Operating System

Hi and Welcome to Fixya

THis means that the operating system of this computer is already corrupted especially the boot manager. This is the file the requires your computer to boot up to windows. You can still use the computer but you need to reinstall the operating system again by using the recovery disk of the computer.

there is not OS and boot files on ur HD, u need to install it from a Win CD...u need to format add install Windows OS then only it will boot from the disk

Trying to install server 2003, error message is setup did not find any hard disks installed in your computer, system has two drive w/xp (fdisked for clean install)

If you have SATA harddrives you must install the drivers before the OS. Usually the mother board disk contains these drivers or download then for the HD manufactors.

Hi, By brand new harddrive, I assume that its fresh and empty.
You need to install the Operating System (OS) in that harddrive.
You can do that my inserting the OS installation CD/ DVD into the drive before you bootup.
If you still get the error, get into the setup mode and change the boot sequence to boot from CD-ROM first.

It used to happen like this during the new installation.
goto BIOS setup and check that the HDD is correctely detected. check the size it reported. If its correct, give one more try. else the HDD firmware is corrupted and can be repaired.
