My Kenmore 50pt Dehumidifier model# 50501 is leaking from the bottom. How do I access the drain pipe to the bucket to clean it out? I cannot see how to get the front panel completely off.
THANK YOU
Leaking from bottom. Clean drain pipe to bucket? Remove front panel for access to top of bucket drain pipe?

No spares available. You can seal the threads with PTFE tape which make the threads thicker, or try and fix with epoxy resin. Or can you drill it out and put in a plumbing fitting. The threaded items should be a standard size.
It sounds like your dehumidifier needs to be professionally cleaned. What could be causing the problem is a buildup on the inside of your dehumidifier where the water drains out and it is causing the water to not drain properly. Additionally, I would check to verify that the drain hole is tightly secured with the plug. I know you stated that the bucket is not leaking but have you removed it to verify? Please comment back if further assist is needed. -Matt
If you reconnect the drain hose, make sure that it lays flat from the dehumidifier and into the sump pump hole. I did that and it solved my problem of water leaking onto the floor.
I'm not sure how hard tap water would affect a dehumidifier. Since you're not collecting the tap water. More than likely, the problem is a result of a clogged drain hole or drain tube that fills the bucket. To unclog it get an 18" long plastic Zip Tie, that is small enough to fit into the drain hole or tube. Carefully thread it into the hole and push it in as far as you can. You will reach a bend in the tubing, so gingerly work it past the bend. Once you have inserted the Zip Tie as far as it will allow, slowly pull it out while rotating it. Be prepared for water to follow. In addition, if you haven't clean the filter recently, now would be a good time to do it. Remember to turn OFF and unplug the unit, before attempting any repairs.
Hope this helps you solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.
Based upon my experience with the same problem on my Kenmore 54701 last summer: The condensate water collects in a plastic pan below the coils. This pan has a single drain hole where the water flows down into the bucket. When I suddenly found water puddling on the floor instead of in the bucket, I opened up the unit, and I found that the collection pan's drain hole had become blocked by "bioslime". I cleaned out the goo from the drain hole, and the problem was solved.
If you purchased the dehumidifier new, it would have come with a part called a connector drain hose. This part is a long plastic tube with threads on one end to accept a hose. The part simply slides into the rear of the machine (with the threads of the part facing the rear). If you dont have the connector drain hose, it's part number is 5214A20027B and you can easily order it online for less than $10.
We came home to this problem the other day, water all over the basement, leaking out the bottom left side, nothing in the collection basin but plenty would spill out if I tipped the unit forward. After searching the web and these forums I theorized that the coils were frozen. I let the unit thaw. No luck. I removed the faceplate and discovered thick, wet silt had filled the internal collection plate and was clogging the drain. I stuck a pipe-cleaner through the drain and the problem was fixed. Took some paper towels and cleaned the whole thing. Works like new. I assume the unit will need to be cleaned regularly to keep it going. To remove the faceplate, unscrew the two phillips' head screws under the faceplate along the sides, then take a flat head screwdriver and pop the tabs holding the face on, one tabe along each side. There are also two tabs on top, but you don't need to mess with those, as they simply act against gravity. Whole thing just clips back together after cleaning. I have no idea if this voids the warranty.
