SOURCE: Replacing the Drive Belt on a Poulan Riding Mower

Without an impact, it's will be more difficult. The only way to get back-up on the bolt is to remove the screen over the flywheel on top and put a socket on the flywheel nut

SOURCE: need to remove pulley from spindle to replace

If you do not the facilities to use an impact wrench, you will need to find to hold the pulley and you a breaker bar with a socket on it to get the pulley nut loose. I would use either"PB Blaster or Deep Creep" penetrating oil and spray it on the nut before you try to take it apart.
Or you may find a professional shop, take the deck to them and may may take the pulley off for a small fee.

How to get the hydro drive pulley off 30 hp briggs engine on a mzt 61

You most likely need a puller .Look at the end of the shaft that the pulley slides on to .If its round you need to pull it .If its got a flat on one side of the shaft then their will be a set screw behind the pulley hex key remove that then the pulley will slide off by hand might need a little force but don't bend it

Installation of motor drive belt on cub cadet tractor

This one's a PITA. That said, I had to remove the PTO clutch and pulley, the seat, the brake and transmission pedals, and finally the sheet metal that constitutes the fenders and foot plates.

Belt is put over the fan above the transmission and onto the pulley there, then run along bottom of main frame towards the front until it reaches the engine drive shaft.

The belt goes onto a pulley on the engine drive shaft (above the PTO clutch and pulley, which have to come off). I couldn't slide the drive pulley down the shaft, so pulled the 4 engine mounting bolts and move the engine around slightly to allow putting the new belt on between the pulley and it's surrounding sheet metal. Once the belt was on, and before any other steps, I realigned the engine mounting holes and replace the bolts.

The belt is then run around the pulleys under the middle section of the tractor. Leave the spring loaded idler pulley for last. you might need to loosen (not remove) the bolt that goes through the idler pulley in order to get the belt on. The biggest fight is pulling the spring loaded pulley over so that you can put the belt onto it.

Once the belt is fully routed over all pulleys. Reinstall everything that you had to remove - and you should be good-to-go.

ONE LAST COMMENT: Many shops sell belts that DON'T have Kevlar. Make sure you but the one WITH Kevlar. The others rarely last one season.

I have a Craftsman DLT 3000 Honda 16.5 HP Overhead Cam V-Twin 42" deck.....It will start but will not move...its locked up...I had done all things to make this go...any suggestions

The drive pulleys do have Shear pins where they go on the shafts. These pins do shear off once in a while. With your machine turned off try to turn pulleys by hand . If they turn easily then these could be broken. Just a thought. Try turning your drive wheels by hand with tractor in gear as the drive wheels have safety pins as well. The pins are inside the wheels or pulleys and you have to remove them to insert the pins.

I have stripped my ALKO ride-on mower down to replace the drive belt. However, I cannot get the drive belt over the engine pulley, due to a metal obstruction getting in the way. To det round this, I need...

You will need to take off he main pulley. I did this by knocking in a wood wedge between the drive pulley and the deck and clamping on some molegrips so the pulley did not go round when undoing the nut at the bottom other wise the motor turns, Undo the nut anticlockwise as usual. The pulley assembly then drops down so you can remove the drive belt
