swap out q301 Part# La7833s on board. Discharge crt first. youll need a cheap desolder vacum tool and 30 watt solder iron, Got mine from the shack. also small tube of heat transfer paste for q301. just did my dads set and it works fine now . cant guarantee that will fix yours. part was only 2 bucks plus shipping make sure part is genuine toshiba with the S
It sound like the TV has gone into stand-by mode...
Try pressing one of the channel buttons, like the channel up or channel down button. That should bring it back out of stand-by mode.

i had the same problem with mine, sometimes if you wiggle the menu button on the front of the tv it might solve the problem, it did for me. if that does not work you'll have to unsolder the menu switch and replace it i think you can get it from radio shack but you'll have to bring them you're old one. hope this is helpfull
I would start at the front panel switches. It sounds as if one is sticking internally. If it is not a switch it would be a microprocessor problem. www.encompassparts.com has the switches. Part number 23344507. Unless you are good with a solder iron best leave this one to a pro. Thanks
just fixed one with that problem it was the vertical output ic Q301 that was shorted. try wicking it out. it is a LA7833S. Postings say to be sure to use the Toshiba part
