What is the question mark mean on my screen

If you mean "1-over-x" then it's the key marked "x-superscript-negative-one" just right and below the big round cursor pad. If you mean "reciprocal sign" more commonly referred to as "negative" or "change-sign" then it's the key marked "(-)" two keys above the "7" key.

Whats the status of the sound device in device manager? drivers installed correctly? sound is unmuted?

You have not given the make and model of your computer. Generally the procedure is
Please check at the task bar at bottom right corner of your screen there is no red 'X' mark on the speaker. That means that sound is muted. Right click on it and remove the mute check mark.
It could be that volume tab has been placed at lowest point. Move it up.
If it still does not work, Right click on My Computer icon on desk top and click on Properties. Select the Devices Tag. Scroll down the List of devices and check there is no warning sign on the sound device. If it is not there there is nothing wrong with the sound device but if it shows a warning sign then click on the properties tab of the device and upload the driver. You may have to insert the the CD om of the Utility drivers which came with your computer.

Before you install the drive please do these steps to resolve the issue.Go to start?right click my computer ?select manage?device manager.You will see the drivers for the devices listed that has a + sign next to it.Click on the + sign next to cd/dvd drive?look for any exclimation mark or a question mark against the drivers listed below.A question mark means there is not driver installed and an exclimation mark means that the driver is not installed properly.So right click on the drivers listed and uninstall it one by one,even if the driver is listed normally need to uninstall it .Restart the computer and then check if the drive is reading the disk or not(The driver reinstalls automatically after restarting the computer ).
If it is the same then go to start?run1♠type regedit?enter?the registry opens up ?then click on the + sign next to the following keys?HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} highlite the key 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318 and on the right hand side look for the upper and the lower filter key if any select it and hit delete.Restart the computer and then check.
If this also does not help then the driver needs to be downloaded so go to the hp website that is www.hp.com/support.On the first screen select United States and then under support and drivers put in the model no where it says for product,click on software and driver downloads and then download the driver.

check if you have the sound drivers of your pc.
Click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System click hardware then click device manger. check if there is a yellow question mark on 'sound and audio controllers. meaning your machine lacks sound drivers.

Does not sound like the chips are bad.
What you need to adjust is "SKEW". You need to enter "service Mode" then go into "Coarse Convergence". Skew can be adjusted for all 3 colors. Unless you have the service manual, these corrections should not be attempted.

To clean the INSIDE of the screen, you really have to disassemble the TV. Remove all the screws that hold the "back" ( the piece with the mirror) to the front (screen) assembly.
The screen can be cleaned with a solution of diluted isopropyl alcohol, no more than a 50% solution. Drugstores will carry it, but it might be 70%-90%. Just dilute with distilled water (not tap water as it contains minerals). Personally I have used 70% with no ill side effects but 50% is recommended.
