When i put in the memory stick, it does not open or recognize the stick
Have the ports ever worked? Have you opened the computer icon to see if the flash drive is being detected- but maybe not auto-starting? Also, if a drive is inserted (Windows system), you ought to see the "safely remove hardware" icon appear on your taskbar, near the clock. Clicking on the icon ought to show you the drive by name & drive letter.
Lastly, right-click Computer>properties>device manager>expand disk drives>if your flash drive is shown here, highlight it & uninstall the device. Remove the flash drive, then reinsert it. Windows will reinstall the driver & this may allow it to recognize the drive again.
Let me know?
Cheers
One of Several issues could be your problem;
Does the Flash Drive work in any of the ports?
Does anything else work in any of the ports?
Does it work on another device?
What operating system is on your laptop?
Look in device manager to see if there are any yellow "!" on any devices. If so, update your drivers for offending devices. If the drive doesn't work on any computer. It's probably the drive. If nothing works on any of the USB ports, Enter setup while booting (usually F2) and check the settings for your USB ports.
Post your results and I'll try to help more.
Get online
and got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "Acer
Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support).
Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating
system when requested. Download and install the Card Reader drivers.
If
after installing the drivers the reader still does not work, you can
purchase a multi format card reader that will plug into you usb port
from Tiger Direct for less than $15. at
http://www.tigerdirect.com
When
the site comes up just put in the search at the top "SD Card Reader or
XD Card Reader" depending you your type and press GO. You can sort the
returned results by Price Low to High.
Do
you have a USB Cable that came with the camera that you can plug into
one of the usb ports on the computer? If so, try that. It's another
way of getting pictures off the camera. Plug the cable on the camera
and into the computer then turn the camera on. The computer will
recognize the camera and install the drivers. You can navigate through
the camera folders just like you do any other device to find the
pictures.
