In most cases, this might be a panel problem.

Your blue LCD panel is failing. It is within the Optical Block and the entire block must be replaced in order to repair this. Over time (usually a short amount of time) this problem while progress until the picture is bad enough that you will want it fix immediately. The Optical Block is the most likely cause. It has been known for this problem. The cost of the Optical block in this model series is approx. 600.00 or so.
I am not sure if Sony will deal with a Consumer on a one on one basis for this part because of the cost of the part. You can check with Sony at 1800-222-SONY.

Try moving a medium powered magnet (not one for picking up heavy objects and not a refrigerator holding one) over the distorted area. If that doesn't work, try a more powerful one. This worked for my Toshiba LCD. Good luck!

Bad Light Engine Call UED for rebulit one 1-800-648-6657 They are not cheap.

thats usually attributed to the light engine or the lens being defective. You may want to check with sony as I think there may be the possibility that they had an issue with certain models being eligible for a free repair on certain models. Check with sony support.

Hi Guys

The Blue dots or discolouration you are seeing is due too the Blue LCD screen having cracked from excessive heat. This normally happens when you have a power failure while the Television was on. This obviously because the Blue LCD sits next to the lamp - the main cause of heat. The correct part number on the 60" is A-1086-952-A. It is very, very ,expensive.

You have a bad blue LCD in the light engine. Replacement of the light engine is the only fix and it usually will continue to get worse over time
