I have a similar problem. One year old pc. A week ago, wouldn't always start up. The green power light would come on for approximately 10 seconds then blink off. Then back on for appr 10 seconds. The top left side indicator light would blink on once in the first 10 seconds then once again in the second 10 seconds. I'll cut and paste the fix which has at least given me a way to turn on the computer but doesn't seem to have fixed it. Sorry I can't credit the author, I was racing against the library computer clock and just got the verbiage saved bf I got kicked off.
I followed steps 1-5 only because I did get the computer to turn on last nite. Was in a hurry so just shut her down. This morning when I tried to power up, had the same old issue. Followed steps 1-5 again and here I am powered up.
Any suggestions for next steps appreciated.

Here's the steps:

Power Issues or Will not Boot
Solution
If the notebook does not power on:
Make sure the
ac adapter is correctly plugged into the notebook and into the power cord.
If everything
is plugged in correctly and it still will not power on, follow these steps to
complete a ‘power reset' of the notebook.
I had problems getting an Acer Extensa 4420 to boot or to enter bios. It would never complete the post. After taking it apart, changing the CMOS battery and making several other adjustments I read that a faulty DVD would cause the problem. I removed the DVD and it went right into Windows VISTA. So I put the DVD back in and had the same problems over again. The issue is a faulty DVD and has nothing to do with the motherboard, or the CMOS battery, or any of those other complex issues. It is simply a faulty DVD that refused to allow POST to proceed.

Only do this if you feel competent in doing so.
Pulling apart laptops is not for the faint of heart.
If you really must do it there are some good guides here.
An alternative is to get a can of compressed air used to clean computers. Put the nozzle on and spray it in every hole you can see without putting the nozzle itself inside the laptop.
Do this outside with glasses on.
You may also want to remove the hard drive and ROM drive.
Take a peek here for more ideas of what is involved.
There are a few are tips for various things in there.
DON'T touch the CPU cooler unless you know what you are doing and have some thermal grease for CPUs to hand.
To make newer laptops last longer between cleaning a good 3 fan cooling pad is suggested.
never use a laptop on soft surfaces as the ventilation can act as a mini vacuum cleaner and encourage dirt build up.
Soft surfaces also block the vents causing fans to run more and burn out sooner.
Hope this gives you the information you need
