Hitachi Ultravision Digital TV dark picture

I have a Hitachi Ultravision digital tv that has a very dark screen. Sometimes the picture will get bright and is ok for viewing but then it becomes dark again and I can barely see anything. What is wrong? This tv isn't very old and I don't feel it should be having this problem.

Thank you!

Looks like

1. A Cold solder in the Video Output stage power supply.

2. A bad Electrolytic Capacitor in the above Video Output stage.

I generally do not waste time in attempting to locate faulty capacitors. There will be only 6-8 pf them in the above stage / section,m and the klot of them would collectivelyt not cost more than 3-4 $ equivalent, in india. Just blindly replace the lot, and the set is ready in 30 mins.

Dunno how much they will cost in your country. Try to look for a 100mfd, 160V Capacitor. Close your eyes and replace. generally does the trick.

Ultravision Digital TV has shadows and vertical

I believe it is either interference or a convergence issue. To fix an issue with convergence try to find a convergence setting in the menu. If thatr doesn't work try to clean your projection lenses with a q-tip and alcohol.
Good Luck.

I have sound but no picture on my hitachi ultravision digital tv

When you use the remote control can you see the on-screen menus, volume or any stuff? if yes, then you may be lucky and have a cable problem. Can you try with another source (DVD, VHS) if you see video with them then you still can be lucky.Check the cables and the hdtv cable box. If you answered NO to any of the previous then its a TV problem and you can't fix it by yourself..

Blue shadows appear to be behind white objects

TV shows large red spot in middle of tv when dark show are on, you can see it more.  Now blue spots on upper right side too.  Spend way to much on this tv to have these kinds of problems only after 3 yrs.

Many thin black horizontal lines on my Hitachi Ultravision 50" TV

Good Day, LDS also;
You may have a poor seated cable connector. Unplug TV from A/C, remove back look for a large black connector. It connects between the Main Digital Module and the Drive PWB. Re-insert both ends several times to make better contact, use contact cleaner if have but not always needed. Good Luck, big IRISH.
