SOURCE: ClearChat Pro USB headset asks for driver upon install

  1. (Vista) Confirm your system restore point first. It needs to be prior to what you're going to attempt here. If it has a recent restore point, great, but if not, make a system restore before you do this, in case it doesn't work.
  2. In the Control Panel, click System, Advanced System Settings, click System Protection, and click System Restore.
  3. (Optional) Try updating your usb drivers before trying the final step, reinstalling the Vista Service Pack 2.
  4. Here's how to verify if your USB (drivers) in the Device Manager are up to date.
  5. Open the Control Panel, System, Device Manager.
  6. Open the Universal Serial Bus controllers (usually at the bottom of the device list).
  7. Right-click, on your first USB, Updating Driver Software. It will look for the update or let you know (which may take a bit of time) that it is up to date already. Repeat this process on all the USB devices.
  8. If that doesn't work, try this: plug in your headset, and keep it plugged into the usb.
  9. In your Windows Updates, re-install the Service Pack 2. After Vista reboots your computer and finishes the install, unplug your headset from the USB and then replug it in. What you are likely to see is a Windows message indicating that it sees the software and is installing it (minus the windows pop-up message of "where's the driver disc for it?").
  10. Now the trick is to get the headset to play the microphone through the speakers appropriately!

Not letting me talk on it

Hello, Thank your for your post

This would be a usb headset and there could be issues with the microphone itself on the headset, or your have it muted. Some users have this issue because there is more then one mic installed on the system, the system is confused on what mic if any your going to be using, or the headset might be muted, or the pc my be muting the headset.

You would need to check the following:

1. By you clock on your desktop there should be a speaker icon right mouse click on that.
2. Open up Record properties, make sure that the Logitech is your default microphone and that its not muted.
3. Say the mic is not muted you want to check on the cord , there should be a hardware mute button, make sure that is not muted as well.

Last but not least if those check out then you might got yourself a hardware issue with the Logitech headset itself.

You also might try another usb port as well.

Please update me with the following information:

1. Operating system
2. type of computer
3. Are you using skype?

If you have any further questions please do ask, We will be more then happy to help.

My dog chewed the cable near the middle of the cable below the volume adjust. any repair???

Carefully strip back the outer insulation you should see different color coded wires just carefully strip the wires back to make a condictor connection and match them by color and use electrical tape to insulate them once tied together . If the wires aren't color coded find an old walkman plug the headset into it and just try different combinations until you figure out the wiring.

I recently installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my laptop. I'm using the Logitech ClearChat Style headset. I can get this device to play sounds but I cannot get it to actually use the microphone.

[PARTIALY SOLVED] Re: Logitech USB headset won't work in ubuntu 10.10... help? Ok. Here is what I did.

Open a terminal and type 'alsamixer' (without the quotes). Than press 'F6'. It will open a small windows. Go with the cursors to your headset and 'ENTER'. Now you can use the cursor 'up' to get the volume up and the headset working. When you also want the mic go up, than first cursor 'right' and than 'up'. 'esc' is getting you out of here and saves this for this session.

Hope I helped someone with this icon_biggrin.gif

Premium usb headset

Hi, A couple of things you can check first pls: 1. the logitech headset has its own mute control somewhere along the line/volume control. pls check/try it on both settings; 2. since it is USB connected, it is now a secondary audio device in your hardware aside from the onboard audio device in your computer. That gives you now 2 speaker output and 2 mic inputs. It is possible that voice recognition uses the logitech therefore it works but voice chat uses the onboard audio and since no mic is connected at the rear of your computer (I am presuming), you may have to set the voice chat to use the logitech mike also. I hope this gives you some idea and works for you. Pls post agin how things are or if you still need further assistance. Good luck and kind regards.
