We have a Samsung RFG237 frig and lost power today,now it only shows 88 88 how do we reset it? We have tried unplugging it and holding the frig and freezer buttons for 10 sec, didn't work.

If you suspect that your fridge control panel has stopped working, the first thing to try is resetting it. To do this, simply press and hold the power button for several seconds until all of the indicator lights turn on.

Try unplugging it for 5 minutes to reset the board.

compressors use a small start / run capacitor to start the compressor
modern fridges do not like spikes from power outages and many power boards and electronic components fail because of this and I am inclined top use a surge protector before the fridge cord plug
I went google and typed in --fault code 88-88 for samsung fridge model rf26aewp and the first site up is error codes /messages/ blinking

this is the control board you will need for your model if unplugging the unit for 5 minutes doesn't fix the problem. If they are LED lights, then I point my finger at this. This is a plug and play board with molex connectors. Very easy to install with unit unplugged. You can manually reset the display and check for error codes by holding the top left and top right button on your user interface for 5 seconds in unison FOR 5 or more seconds after all the lights flash.

This code represents a malfunction. Call frigidaire and find out what that code means. Your manual should tell you as we'll.

When it is fixed and the temperature goes back down it will automatically go off.

If it's stuck trying unplugging for 10 minutes and then plug back in to reset. If it has a battery backup take out battery.

Inside the door near top there is sometimes instructions to hold the button for 3 seconds to reset or unlock controls (on modern Frigidaires and some Kenmores).

it might have low volatge to compressor and burned out overload try unplugging it again wait a few hours and plug it back in it might start working good luck if it doesnt try replacing relay overload compasator they sell a kit called a 3 n 1 start kit
