Since that model has the capability to be "chained" together with other units see if one of the others is too close to a heat or smoke source, maybe furnace or hot water heated or kitchen.

Why the back (can't see inside) of the wire keep beeping after taking off the smoke detector? How to stop it?

You need to replace it. It will not silence as it detects Faulty sensor. Or you can turn off the breaker that controls that circuit and remove the base from the mount and replace both of the with 2 new ones with the same date code on package. My home and life far outweigh the few dollars that the detectors cost

Smoke alarm went off None of the other smoke alarms went off just the 1 I have a CO alarm and that didnt go off either Smoke alarm has a green light on and a red light that flashes every 30 seconds

Most smoke alarms depend on a mirror and laser. If the one is question is near a bathroom, it probably went off after someone took a shower? The steam from the bathroom will fog the mirror and set it off. Same problem if it is near a source of cold air on a cold day with heat on in the house. If the problem is cold air from the attic, go to the attic and move the insulation. Seal the hole for the wires with canned foam like Great Stuff, and put the insulation back over it.

I have 6 smoke detectors & two CO2 detectors hardwired in. The smoke detector in the kitchen went off and now all the detectors will not stop alarming. How do I reset?

First of all, you really should not have a smoke detector in the kitchen as it will be far too prone to false alarms, especially since most household smoke alarms are ionization type, which respond to the presence of gases caused by combustion. A proper system as recommended by NFPA will have one detector in each bedroom, one in each bedroom hallway, and recommended one per floor thereafter, with placement being near exit points to help guide you to the exit during an actual fire (by sound, since it's difficult to see through smoke). I would be inclined to remove that device or try to find a heat detector replacement, such as Kidde Model # HD135F. For now I would vacuum out the device or try a can of compressed air to blow it out, but I would not leave that device long term.

Blips from Smoke Detector

When was the last time the battery was replaced in the smoke detector ?
Try replacing smoke detector battery with a new alkaline battery.
and see if bleep goes away.
Also if it is cold , the near flat battery will reach the level that the smoke detector will beep at intervals to warn you that the battery is almost flat .

I recently bought a Provence Calor Gas Stove for the house. The portable heater type. It is brand new but every time we switch it on, all of the smoke detectors in the house go off. Whats up with that?

New burners need to be run for a bit to burn off factory oils and the like for a bit (making sure of good ventilation in the house first). If this has been done and your smoke detectors are also carbon monoxide detectors turn the unit off and call a service tech before continuing use.

My SS785 smoke detector "chirps"

The unit may simply need cleaning. As dust and lint will accumulate on the unit and in the senors.
You can accomplish this with a can of compressed air with a straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with). Carefully remove the cover and blow out all the nooks and crannies of the detector. If you can't remove the cover, stick the straw nozzle into any opening you can see and give it a quick blast of air.

The detector may alarm due to the COLD air from the can. But, should stop once it warms back up.
You should clean all the detectors in the house at least every 6 months.

I find it unusual, that there is no battery backup in your detector. What happens if you have a fire during a power outage?

Kiddei12040 goes off maybe once or twice a day. it goes sometimes for 10 min at a time. It is hardwired and its not a chirpping sound either. house was built 3 months ago.

It may simply need cleaning, because there's dust or lint in the sensor.

What you'll need: A ladder to reach the smoke detector and a can of compressed air that has a straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with).

Carefully remove the cover of the smoke detector. Use the canned compressed air with the straw nozzle to blow out the interior of the detector. Be sure to hold the canned air as upright as possible while using it. Once you've cleaned the interior, clean the outer cover. Replace the cover and push the test button. Then detector may false at first, because the canned compressed air is cold. However, once the detector reaches room temperature it should stop.

That should help solve your alarming problem. Smoke detectors should be clean like this, at least once a year. More if it's a dusty environment.
