Hi Pamela. try the brightness button on your keyboard. if that doesn't do it you may need to replace the screen. Let me know how it goes.

Hi
Maybe it is just the screen brightness that has been turned down to minimum? Can you increase the light on the screen via your keyboard?
Hope this helps :-)

Samung chromebook xe303c12 turns on to white screen chrome screen then turns black with power light on

Here is a trick you can use: You can put the Chromebook into Developer Mode, then once it is in Developer Mode you can switch it back into normal mode and it should totally wipe the Chromebook without requiring any USB flash drive or any SD flash card etc.
But remember that just like a Powerwash or a USB ChromeOS restore, this process will wipe all local files you have stored on your Chromebook's SSD.
best of luck ! And be certain to return to let us know if this helped.

PS: Remember that when using a Chromebook you should never store important files locally on the SSD HardDiskDrive shelf; Instead, store them in your Google Drive or if you must store them locally use something like flash storage media. A Powerwash or a switching into Developer Mode will wipe all SSD local files.

  1. Press ESC + Samsung Chromebook Refresh key + POWER. The screen displays a yellow exclamation point (!).

  2. Press CTRL + D to begin dev mode, then ENTER. The screen displays a red exclamation point.

  3. Press CTRL + D, then ENTER. The Chromebook deletes its local data, returning to its initial state. The deletion takes approximately 15 minutes.

  4. When the transaction completes, press the spacebar, then press ENTER to return to verified mode.

My samsung chromebook has different strips of colors going down the screen

try laptop through a different monitor using a vga cable, if it fixes the problem then you have a screen fault, if it doesn't then you will have a graphics fault, screen fault could just be the inverter, graphics fault can be alot more tricky to put right. unless it has a removable graphics card. then just replace card.
