Canon IR1018 forces duplexing

My Canon IR1018 allways uses duplex unit when I copy or print.
Settings on device EEPROM and printer driver are correctly set for single-sided printing but still it allways rotates paper through duplexe.

Could it be sensor problem or jammed switch?

You need to go into the print driver on your Windows machine and go to the Device settings tab. One of the settings is to set whether the unit has a duplexer or not. It does not always set automatically.

Will not duplex - fails duplex quick test

Hello.

Here are some suggestions from Lexmark as to why the printer will not duplex:

The ability to select duplex printing requires the following:
  • -The printer must recognize the physical duplex option.
  • -The duplex option must be recognized by the driver under Properties > Install Options.
  • -The selected Paper Type must not be:
    -Transparency
    -Labels
    , or
    -Cardstock/Extra Heavy Paper.

  • -Under Page Layout > More Page Layout Options, the following options must not be selected:
    -Booklet printing
    -
    Poster printing
Printer recognition of duplex option Some printers and MFPs have the duplex option built into the physical printer while others require physical connection of the duplex option or tray.
To check for an installed duplex option:
Print a Menu Settings page and check for DUPLEX under Device Information > Installed Features. (The embedded web server path is Reports > Device Settings > Device Information > Installed Features.)
If DUPLEX does not appear as an installed option, consider the following possible reasons: -The duplex drawer or tray is not properly connected to the printer. Try reseating the printer onto the duplex option so that the duplex option's upper auto-connect connector is properly aligned with the printer's bottom auto-connect connector. NOTE: A "982 duplex error" may also result from this condition.
-Turn the printer off for about 15 seconds, and then turn the printer back on. If the printer was quickly turned off and on, a low-voltage power condition could prevent the peripheral from being acknowledged during the initial printer start-up.
-The auto-connect connector is damaged on the printer or duplex option.

Software driver recognition of duplex option - reinstall driver.

Hope these suggestions help.

Duplex not recognised

You need to set the duplexer to installed. For Vista this would be done as follows: go to the Printers folder, Right Click on the 5550, Run as Administrator, Properties, (continue), Device Settings, Installable Options, Duplex unit (set to Installed), Apply, OK.

Once you have done this in Vista the duplexer will work but the back side may print upside down regardless of the settings. This can be corrected with a patch available here.

Canon imageCLASS MF6530; can't set up duplex (2sided) printing

hi there
there are 2 ways to copy 2 sided
one is full duplex which means your copier must have a duplex attatchment fitted on the copier lid
the other if it hasn't got a duplexer is to copy in 1 to 2 mode which means you have to turn the copy over. it sounds like your machine has not got a duplexer fitted but it can still do double sided using 1 to 2.

hope this helps

Getting the Duplex Attachment to Work with Vista

what printer do you have?
brand and model?
do you has installed the newest driver and utility for vista operating system?
do you know that Vista and XP are incompatible in terms of drivers?

Vista has many drivers for a lots of printers, but these drivers are "generic driver". The generic driver is a small driver, an incomplete driver, and has a limited functions.

Duplexer problem

First, the machine always prints the first page first. Make sure you have the right driver (4 plus and not 4)and check the settings in the device settings of your printer driver on the pc. Also make sure the duplex unit is for the 4 plus and not the 4.
