You pop the top and remove the front then get the drum out and clean it up. The belt must not be twisted. Their are many videos on youtube showing how to replace a belt. I will just throw up a video that will give you an idea how to. I have links in my about page on youtube to various styles of dryers and I have links to thousands of service manuals tips and all.

Heating element must be shorted to frame causin overheat and shut down. You gonna need to take it apart and see where the problem is. Post a make and model number for a better answer. The coils on the gas assembly are known to get IFFY when they get age on them. They overheat and get open quit fail kaput. I made a movie on how it works and how to replace look it up on youtube Gas dryer dan webster. thanks
Must be something in the blower section. You need to get into the dryer and clean it up. Air restrictions cause overheat condition. When the temp gets so high the limits shut it down. Lots of videos on you tube that show how to get into. You can google gas dryer dan webster or roper dryer no heat dan webster and I have some videos posted how to get into these.
