Sansa Wheel Doesn't Scroll/Move

Hey I have a Sansa E280 and my problem is that the wheel used to change volume and scroll through songs, etc. is not working. I have had the Sansa for about 2 years now and have used the heck out of it, so I need to know is it something easily fixed or is it just worn out? Also, it will work just barely every once in a while but only for a few seconds. Thanks for any help!

Need to learn how to use a i-pod classic

Scrolling: move your finger clockwise to scroll up, and counterclockwise to scroll down.
Select/OK: center button
Menu: goes back to previous page. hold menu to go to main menu. you may chose what items you want in this menu under settings > main menu.
Music playback screen:
to fast forward, hold '<< or >>' OR press center button once, and use the dial. clockwise to go forwards, counter to go back. when done, wait, and the diamond will dissapear.
song ratings: Hit center twice then use the dial to enter amount of stars. is saved to iTunes next sync
Shuffle: three center clicks. can shuffle by album, or song. if it is off, it plays the playlist in order.
lyrics (If applicable): four clicks in is where you can view lyrics. if you do not have lyrics for a song input from itunes, four clicks will bring you back to the main song bar.
volume: simply rotate finger clockwise (+ vol) or counterclockwise (- vol). no Center button needed. must be in music screen. (aka, now playing.)
Hold switch: while active (orange showing) buttons and scroll wheel are deactivated to prevent accidental key clicks and volume changes.

For reference and more information:

these are some very basics I have written, I can definitely answer any specific how-to-iPodclassic questions.

My volumn on my ipod 4th gen is not working and when i go to settings it only shows languages no volumn setting

One of the major warnings Apple includes with all of its iPods is the permanent hearing damage that could occur if you have the volume on your iPod turned up too high.

To help combat the problem, the iPod comes with a feature that allows you to set a maximum volume level that your iPod can be played at that level is controlled by a combination that can keep others namely children from turning the volume up to dangerous levels.

The good news is, if that combination falls into the wrong hands, it can be reset.

Use your iPod's click wheel to scroll down to "Settings."

Press the center button located in the middle of the click wheel to select the settings menu.

Scroll down to "Playback" and press the center button to select it.

Scroll to "Volume Limit" and press the center button to select it.

Use the click wheel to scroll to the first number of the old combination and press the center button to select it.

Repeat this process for all four numbers of the old combination.

Use the click wheel to scroll to where you want the maximum volume to be set and press the center button.

Use the click wheel to scroll to "Lock" and press the center button.

Use the click wheel to enter the first number of the new combination when the message "Enter New Combination" appears on the screen repeat the process for the three remaining numbers.

Once the four numbers have been entered, your iPod's maximum volume will be set and your password will be changed.

hope this helps

Scroll wheel

Well, you probably have a fast scroll wheel. If you aren't doing it already, try installing Rockbox from rockbox.org This will give you some more control over the speed, and I personally use it. If you do not want to void your warranty, try updating to the latest firmware.
