When doing a scan ,how do I group 2 or 3 scans together to create a 2 or 3 page file ?

Mark:

You'll need adobe acrobat (the full program) to open your first page, then open the second page and copy the second page to the bottom of the first page, then copy the third page to the bottom of the second page. If you don't have Adobe Acrobat, have your scanner save the file in another format (such as WinWord), then convert to a PDF file if you need to.

Converting formats

RTF, better known as Rich Text Format is a file format standard where, by default is opened with Microsoft Word. If the person that received your RTF documents opens them, they will open in Microsoft Word. If the recipient edits and saves them, they will still be saved in RTF. When they send those documents back, you will open them....and back and forth.

Every time I scan a multiple-page document into a PDF file using my HP LaserJet M1319fMFP, in creates a separate file -- or document -- for each page, rather than simply scanning all the pages into a...

There is no easy way of doing this.
What you can do is scan each page as an image file, then use an OCR program to convert each page into a text file and save them. Then open a fresh/new Word document, then open each text file page and copy and paste each text file page into this Word document.
After you have copied all the pages into this Word document, then spell check it, edit and format the text then save the document. You can then create a PDF file from this Word document if you need to.

In Word 2007, I have a document where the first two pages are un-numbered, the next page is numbered "ii", and the balance of the document is numbered 1 - whatever. The Office Online help is useless!

Forest,

The first two pages may be currently defined as a "Section" and is treated differently.
How do you want the numbering, or do you not want numbering?
Generally, Page one is NOT numbered and the rest are numbered, starting with "2", "3", etc.

Anyway, here is how to fix it:
Go to the top of the document and click your mouse in the upper left corner of the page (to make sure you are on the first page)
[Insert]
[Page Numbers]
Position: "Bottom of Page"
Alignment: Right
Uncheck [ ] Show number on first page

[Format]
Number format: "1,2,3,..."
[OK]

Is it possible to convert a .wps format, to a .pages format?

when at school go to the file "save as" option and you should be able to save the wps document into a word format ( using the drop down menu at the bottom to select microsoft word document ) or something along those lines.

You should then be able to use that in pages and email it back to an email account ( that you have or use ) in a word format or maybe save it as a word document.

The other option would be to download and install open office ( http://www.openoffice.org ) and bring the documents from school to home as a word document as per above and use open office to do what you need to do and save it as a word document again and you should be able to do it that way.

Short of that speak with the IT person and see if they can use open office ( pages is a mac only piece of software from what im aware ) so dont think that will be an option at your school where as open office should be as its free.

Dreamweaver CS3

Import Microsoft Office documents (Windows only) You can insert the full contents of a Microsoft Word or Excel document in a new or existing web page. When you import a Word or Excel document, Dreamweaver receives the converted HTML and inserts it into your web page. The file’s size, after Dreamweaver receives the converted HTML, must be less than 300K.
Instead of importing the entire contents of a file, you can also paste portions of a Word document and preserve the formatting.
Note: If you use Microsoft Office 97, you cannot import the contents of a Word or Excel document; you must insert a link to the document.
  1. Open the web page into which you want to insert the Word or Excel document.
  2. In Design view, do one of the following to select the file:
    • Drag the file from its current location to the page where you want the content to appear.
    • Select File > Import > Word Document or File > Import > Excel Document.
  3. In the Insert Document dialog box, browse to the file you want to add, select any of the formatting options from the Formatting pop-up menu at the bottom of the dialog box, and then click Open. Text Only Inserts unformatted text. If the original text is formatted, all formatting will be removed.
Text With Structure Inserts text that retains structure, but does not retain basic formatting. For example, you can paste text and retain the structure of paragraphs, lists, and tables, without retaining bold, italics, and other formatting.
Text With Structure Plus Basic Formatting Inserts both structured and simple HTML-formatted text (e.g., paragraphs and tables, as well as text formatted with the b, i, u, strong, em, hr, abbr, or acronym tag).
Text With Structure Plus Full Formatting Inserts text that retains all structure, HTML formatting, and CSS styles.
Clean Up Word Paragraph Spacing Eliminates extra space between paragraphs when you paste your text if you selected Text With Structure or Basic Formatting. The contents of the Word or Excel document appear in your page.

Word 2007 Formatting problems

Dear alyrian, this might be because of your line spacing settings. Go to formatting and reduce line spacing between lines and it should fit to 2 pages. You also might like to verify that font and text size is same in both documents.

Make sure you haven't written any additional text. Try to check spacing between paragraphs too.
