Ensure the keyboard is plugged into the correct place. If it is a USB keyboard it can be connected to any USB port and should be installed by itself. (All keyboard are generic devices and do not need additional drivers)
If it is a PS/2 device (Round plug) Ensure it is plugged into the keyboard port and not the mouse port. Also ensure no pins in the plug have bent or broken.
Try the keyboard on another computer to ensure it functions properly. If it does not, the keyboard may be defective, if it does work on another computer, you may have an issue with the port on your computer.
As stated before. Keyboard are generic devices and do NOT need additional drivers to work.
As a last test, ensure the keyboard is plugged into the computer BEFORE it's turned on.

Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000 v.1 Key ) problem

Right, I've done a more extensive search on google for this and it turns out that you don't have to take your keyboard apart for this.
My I key wasn't working, so I found out that all you have to do is lift the keyboard up, turn it sideways and give it an almighty slap on the back.
Solved my problem!!

Backspc,capslck, t keys don't work-ms comfort curve 2000 keyboard

try re-installing the driver for your keyboard. If did not solve, try using your keyboard to another machine and see if it works there.

If it stil didn't work i suspected your keyboard is faulty. You might need to buy one since there's no way to change 3 keyboard keys only.

Restart the HID Human Interface Service. To fix this problem yourself, follow these steps:

  1. Open Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in for Services.

In Windows Vista or Windows 7, click Start, type services.msc in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.

In Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type services.msc in the Open box, and then click OK.

  1. In the list of services in the Details pane, double-click HID Human Interface Service, and then make sure that the Startup type is set to Automatic. Then if not running start.
