Driver updates
Ensure the keyboard is plugged into the correct place. If it is a USB keyboard it can be connected to any USB port and should be installed by itself. (All keyboard are generic devices and do not need additional drivers)
If it is a PS/2 device (Round plug) Ensure it is plugged into the keyboard port and not the mouse port. Also ensure no pins in the plug have bent or broken.
Try the keyboard on another computer to ensure it functions properly. If it does not, the keyboard may be defective, if it does work on another computer, you may have an issue with the port on your computer.
As stated before. Keyboard are generic devices and do NOT need additional drivers to work.
As a last test, ensure the keyboard is plugged into the computer BEFORE it's turned on.
Restart the HID Human Interface Service. To fix this problem yourself, follow these steps:
In Windows Vista or Windows 7, click Start, type services.msc in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
In Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type services.msc in the Open box, and then click OK.
