Rancillo Silvia thermostat blown?

Hi all -

I tried the thermostat reset, and it doesn't seem to have fixed the problem. How hard is it to replace a thermostat on a Silvia?

thanks

Graham

All you have to do is unscrew it from the boiler and replace it the same way.

How do you reset the thermostats on the rancilio?

Safety thermostat for rancilio silvia is on the boiler and has a red button on top.Press this button down and you should be ok.
Other thermostats cannot be reset - just replaced.

If the boiler temperature exceeds 165 degrees Celsius, this thermostat will trip, cutting power off from the element. This is done to try to prevent element damage due to overheating.

Our rancillo silvia does not heat up water or make steam. the power light shows on.

Sounds like the heating element is fried, you will need to find a local person who understands basic electrical troubleshooting with a meter. Take the top off and have somebody meter voltage across the heating element electrodes if there is voltage ther,e but the machine is cold, your heating element positively absolutely has gone bye bye. We can repair this

On my rancilio silvia, 3 way valve not whooshing anymore. Water temperature seems low- around 180* at highest.

There are two thermostats, one for water, one for steam. Replace the one for water. You can get the themostat here

Hello. my rancilio silvia which i purchased new seems to have stopped working. I flipped the main power switch on so it would warm up the water. I then tried to run the water and then the steam and it...

It is possible that the element burnt out, but before that happened, the thermostat should have turned it off. Remove the top screws and look for signs of damage/burning wires, if none then fill tank check all thermostats to make sure they did not trip and turn machine on.

Rancilio Silvia stopped heating up.

Hi
Check to see if it will heat in the steam position. If it does, then you have a bad brew thermostat, and just need to replace that. Its the one with the red dot. If not, run some water through the wand and see if it is milky? If its milky you have a blown heating element. You can also do an ohms check in the element. There should a reading between the element terminals of 12 to 16 ohms. If you have no reading, your going to have to replace the boiler.

Boiler light never goes off

Hi
If you have an ohms meter, do a check of the element in the boiler. The reading should be between 12 and 16 ohms. If you don't have any reading, you have a bad element and need to replace the boiler.

Not heating up the water

Hi
3 things could be wrong. First is easy to check. With machine on, turn on the steam switch and after about a minut open the steam knob and push the middle switch. Check the water coming from the wand and see if its warm? If it is you need a brew thermostat. Unplug the machine. Remove the water tank. Remove the 4 screws that hold the top on and lift top off. The boiler has 2 thermostats on the top front of the boiler, and the one with the red dot is the brew thermostat and need replacing.
If that didn't fix your problem there is a reset thermostat on the front face of the boiler and has black wires going to it. There is a red button in the middle of the thermostat and needs to be pushed.
If that one didn't solve your problem you need a new heating element. You can do a continuity check on the terminals.

Rancilio silvia

Youve probably run your boiler dry and blown your thermostat/s. You'll need to have them replaced. You may get away with only having to replace one. It will cost about $80(AUS) to have done or less if you source the parts and do it yourself (not recommended).
