Why does my ice auger want to keep spinning and wont stop when you pull the cord it turns the auger

Pulling the cord will only start the engine. Your problem is with the centrifugal clutch. Check the clutch for broken springs. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

What year is a model 76 jiffy ice auger

The model 76 ice auger was made over a number of years and is probably still be in production. If it has a Jiffy engine, it was made before 2011 ("2500 series"). If it has a Tecumseh engine, it's 2011 or newer. Your best bet for getting the age is to find the serial number on the auger or the engine and contacting the manufacturer. What should the gas oil miz ratio be for an older model 30 jiffy ice auger... fustarted fisherman

hello,
I work out at a remote fishing lodge in Alaska and the Jiffy auger we have here says 24:1 on the unit but I know for a fact ( cu'z I do the mixing ) that we run it using a 40:1 mix Ratio and it works great.
I have heard stories from other fishermen that they are running ' Amsoil* ' in there Jiffy augers at a mix ratio of 80:1 and they say that it cut down on the smoking of motor.
fish on,stay warm and have fun,

Jiffy ice auger won't start if cold.

I
Hello. I'm kind of "out on a limb " here but my older chain saws and my Jiffy auger's the same. I use the highest octain fuel I can get (at the pump) and I think it helps. These old motors were made to run on real gas.

Jiffy ice auger its starts but doesnt stay running

Sounds like the float is stuck.See if you can remove the float bowl.Once it's off try and separate the float from the carburetor. The float will be holding in a small needle, check it for free movement. They're pretty inexpensive and would be a good thing to replace. The float will crack, then fill up with fluid.Once full it will cease to function, opening and closing off the fuel flow. Then the needle will stick and you'll get little or no fuel. It's a real simple carb, they're less than $50 brand new if it sounds like too much to work on.Hope this has been some help? You do know this is posted under PC Desktops, right?

Ardis Ice Auger

I pick up a power head from the junk yard this past weekend. The unit was made by Feldmann Mfg. and engineering. I believe this is the same company that manufactures Jiffy ice augers. I paid $3 for it. It looks like it is from the 50's or 60's. It was complete except for the auger. The motor was froze from sitting, but after disasembling, cleaning, cutting new gasket, freeing the rings and numerous other problems I got it running. I found augers in the Northern hydraulics catalog in sizes from 3" to 12". They are for earth and the 8" was $139.99. You would need to contact them for the shaft size to see if it will fit in the power head you have.
