Do you have an indicator light blinking or illuminated? If so, your amp has DC Offset, meaning a damaged amplifier. The static noise you heard, may have been DC voltage on the speaker output.

Check your connections to make sure that the cables are tight and that there aren't any stray wires that may be shorting to other terminals on your amp.
If there's nothing there, may I suggest you take a look at AVS Forum's amp forum: Receivers Amps and Processors AVS Forum
You can either find a solution there, or, post your problem and get informed responses.
To setup the Bose 901's so that all of your connected equipment's sound (cable/dvd/games/stereo/etc) comes out of the 901's. If you already have a receiver with front left and right pre-outs, I would add an amplifier. (other option is a pre-amp) Use the amplifier to create the loop the 901's need w/ their EQ and it will also add a cleaner sound and added power. That's how you can really make the Bose 901's sound amazing.
Get a separate amp for the 901's and the rest falls into place.
1,2, 5) Place the 901 Active EQ between the pre/main front OUT of the receiver and the TFM-55X. Attach the 901's. Keep track of the jumpers you remove from the receiver. Or replace the jumpers with RCA splitter cables so you still have pre/main connection but can share the output with the TFM.
3) Pinnacle subwoofer (self-powered?) to the subwoofer out of the receiver.
4) Bose (AMS???) 5. As surrounds on the receiver. Place the sub module toward the rear so it mates sonically and directionally with them.
What? No center speaker? I'd get something more robust with bass capabilities, like a pair Bose 301 series 1's because the tweeters face in one direction only.
Except for the amps and the cube stuff that is essentially what I have. 6.1 with full-range speakers everywhere.
as long as this is a factory radio am/fm only
