I need to know about missed calls and message retrieval...and am feeling very tech deficient.
Reading the manual and forever confusing the system...Have 21 calls in the CIDthat I do not want or need...Have had many other phone systems like this but...oh my! Don't tell the grandkids!
Re: I need to know about missed calls and message...
You could just leave them - new calls will push out the old ones eventually. There is a way to delete them but on some phones it's so slow you might as well leave them. Or post the make/model of phone and we'll try to help more.

On an answering machine? Probably gone forever. There is software to retrieve photos, but you usually have a card to read them from on what you have don't even know where to look for a card if there is one.
You can go to http://www.infdump.com/inf-files/U_1.html and downlaod the missing file and update the same. This will require technical expertise and if you cannot do that yourself then call the manufacturer tech support ( 1-800-474-6836 toll free).
Need to mention more specifically which file is missing.
Go to the base unit.
scroll to the answering machine option.
Under there is a setting for your security key.
you can read what's there, or change it to your own two digit code.
when you call in, during the message, enter that two digit code and it'll go into messages. There's a "toll saver" mode so that the machine answers after two rings instead of 4, so that if you call and it rings 3 times, you know there's no new messages.
Manual: http://www.uniden.com/pdf/DCT648-2om.pdf
If you had read the manual, it would probably have told you this. .It might be worth seeing if someone at your local friendly computer shop can assist you - they may have access to software that will help.
If you call customer care or possibily tech support you can request text messages that were sent or received, and there is a fee for that I just dont know how much.
