The TomTom is a portable GPS for automobiles that assists the driver with navigational maps and driving instructions. If the TomTom freezes up or glitches, you can reset the system back to the factory settings. Users that have the 22 Range TomTom models such as the TomTom ONE and TomTom XL can hold down the power button to reset their system. However, the TomTom GO has a manual reset button on the device.

Instructions And What You Need To Solve The Problem.

1. Remove the TomTom GO from its cradle.
   
2. Turn the unit upside down.
   
3. Look for a small hole in the bottom of the unit. It will be located just behind the release button. The reset button is recessed inside this hole.
   
4. Straighten out one end of the paperclip.
   
5. Press the recessed button by inserting the straightened end of the paperclip into the reset hole.
   
6. Hold the button down for ten seconds, then pull the paperclip out of the hole. Your TomTom GO should now be reset back to the factory settings.

Clock setting is on page 6 of the preferences dialog. 5. If the Set Clock option is greyed out, you will need to perform a system reset and then perform these steps over again.
To reset the system, start with the power off. Then, hold down the power button for about 15 seconds, until you see the TomTom logo appear on the display. When the logo appears, release the power button. After this reset, you should be able to turn the unit back on and proceed with your setup from scratch.

The TomTom XL 340-S uses the power button as a reset. With the unit turned off, hold down the power button for approximately 15 seconds, until the TomTom turns on. As soon as the unit turns on, release the power button. The unit is now reset.

Connect the GPS unit to the PC using the USB2 connection.
You will be given the possibility to restore the unit´s files. This takes a while, but it solved the problem for me.

I would suggest a HARD reset first.

You will have to tell it some of your preferences once again but it should get you going.

If you have an SD card in try removing that before you power up.

You may also want to try the hard reset.

If you can get to it using the RIGHT arrow there is also a reset to factory default option on the tomtom itself.

Resetting factory settings does just that it resets the operating system it does not reset or fix map problems

To do a soft reset on a ONE 530, just hold down the power button for about 15 seconds. You'll see the tomtom reboot and it will play the little drums sound.

Be careful when you follow the instructions. Where it says not to delete the folders, it also should say not to open the folders and delete anything.

make sure you're fully charged, remove any optional memory cards (depends on the unit) there should be a reset hole, place a straightened paperclip into the hole and press for 15 seconds.

make sure you're fuly charged, press and hold the on/off button for about 15 seconds until the unit restarts

From tomtom.com's support page:
Hold down the power button for approximately 15 seconds. Then the unit will rebott automatically. I just did this, and it worked.
