IT sounds like it is the pickups not working (.telling it to spark) if not then it will be CDI UNIT OR ENGINE GENERATOR COILS

SOURCE: 2000 yamaha vstar 1100 custom. starter problem?

I had the same problem 2001 XVS1100 Custom
this is a starter issue Over time the starter on this bike twists when its under a load.
Look at the two bolts holding the starter on if they are not straight across then its twisted. turn starter back in line with a pair of big channel locks and try to start this should do the trick if this works i would recommend taking the two bolts out and bend them back straight or replace and reinstall starter this should fixya problem

Hope this helps ...............Jimmyfixya

SOURCE: yamaha sr125 ignition problem "click"

I am having exactly same problem. re starting, battery and fizzz. At the bottom of the carb on bikes left side is s screw. get a glass or old clean jam jar, place the thin tube in jar that comes off the bottom of carb, turn screw. petrol should start flowing into jar. let out about two egg cups full into jar. re tighten screw. hold jar up to light. what you have done is remove any water from the carb. you should see any water floating below the petrol. NEED I SAY DONT SMOKE WHEN DOING THIS . The fizz i cleaned all the contacts of any white deposits around bulb holders in the indicator arms.tightened the wiring conectors. Removed and dcleaned the indicator switch.

SOURCE: i have a 2003 yamaha 400 kodiak runing fine and

I had the same problem on my 2003 Kodiak. It ended up being the CDI Box. The Warn Winch was the cause. I had to replace the CDI Box on my twice before figuring out it had to do with the winch since it happened only after using it. I used the winch before when new and never had a problem.

What degree do you need to time a 485 yamaha engine two cycle. Want to make it turn

I have always had great results with my Yamaha and Kawasaki 2-stroke motors by setting the timing at 32' advanced. The motor will be easy to start and run much better coming out of the hole ( bottom end ). They set them up from the factory so they run rich and protect your motor. But if you want it to run like it is capable of running, you gotta bump the timing. "UPDATE">>>Im sorry i thought i was responding to ignition timing not the trim motor.

Power trim on 60 hp yamaha quit working

find the solenoid for the trim it will be a the engine or on the trim motor it self get a test lite and find the power wire on the trim motor and with someone pushing the trim button test the hot on the motor if there is no power it is the solenoid if there is power u my have a brush stuck in the trim motor itself but 99% of the time it is the solenoid u can tap the trim motor and see if that gets a result but dont hit hard
