Remove dual agitator

The agitator in your Maytag Dependable Care washer uses a back-and-forth motion to move your clothes from the top of the washtub to the bottom and back to the top again. The fins on the side of the agitator help facilitate this movement. When one of the fins sustains damage or the agitator fails to move, you must remove the agitator to make the necessary repairs.Disconnect your Maytag Dependable Care washer from the electrical wall outlet. Turn off the valves supplying water to the appliance.
2 Open the washer's lid to access the agitator. Look for a 1/4-inch hex screw recessed in an opening about three-quarters down the side of the agitator.
3 Insert a 1/4-inch nut driver into the opening in the side of the agitator. Fit the nut driver over the head of the screw. Turn the screw counterclockwise to remove it.Grab the bottom of the agitator with both hands. Pull the agitator from the bottom of the washtub.

On the la5000 may tag washing machine the machine will run only in the rinse and spin mode

What you're saying is that it will not agitate? Unfortunately, that usually means the transmission is bad. You can try taking the belt off and turning it by hand. One direction it will turn the drum and agitator together. he other direction, it should turn the agitator back and forth. If it won't turn, you can take the agitator off and make sure there isn't something jamming it, but chances are that machine is done -- transmissions are so expensive the machine usually ends up as scrap metal. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

How do I reassemble Kenmore model 110.29842991 Need a parts manue

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?pop=true&modelNumber=110.29842991

See the Agitator and Tub section.

Basically lower the main agitator onto the transmission drive shaft. (Be sure that the two pronged "washer" and clip are on the shaft).

2. Screw the double threaded bolt (with a rubber washer on the bottom) into the agitator shaft

3. Carefully lower the top agitator onto the lower one and screw the 1/2" (probably plastic) bolt onto the double threaded bolt.

4. Put the cap on

5. Put the fabric softener unit on and push down on the locking ring.

How do you remove the agitator if something is caught underneath.

On a Maytag the agitator either has a bolt under the center cap, or a set screw along the side about 3/4 of the way down. Maytag Alantis and Performa models have a removable agitator cap with a bolt underneath, while the Dependable Care series have a set screw. In either case, you loosen the nut or screw, and the entire assembly will lift straight up. Sometimes they stick and require a little effort to remove. I hope this helps you.

Seal leaking from tub. How do I remove agitator?

If this is a Maytag Performa or Atlantis model all you have to do is remove the center cap on the agitator by pulling on it and locate the agitator bolt underneath. Loosen the bolt, and the agitator should pull straight up.

If this is a Maytag Dependable Care series there will be 1/4 inch screw along the side of the agitator towards the bottom. Remove this screw and the agitator will pull straight up.

I hope this helps you.

PS If the problem is due to the build up of fabric softener, soak in some hot water to loosen it up. Fabric softener is essentially a form of liquid wax and it is common for it to accumulate and clog the dispenser in this manner. Periodic cleaning is recommended.

I have a foul smell comming from my washer I want to try to take off the agitator and clean it How? :)

It depends on what model Maytag washer you have. If you have an Atlantis or Performa model Maytag you remove the agitator by, first, pulling the agitator cap and softener dispenser off. Locate the bolt on the center post and and loosen. The agitator will pull straight up to remove. If this is a Dependable Care model Maytag, there's a 1/4 inch screw located on the SIDE of the agitator about 3 quarters of the way down. Locate this screw and loosen. The agitator will pull straight up to remove. I hope this helps you.

Maytag Dependable Care Plus LAT8824

I think that you mean "Agitate" some of the time that you write "Spin" Yes?
If I understand you correctly, you have no agitation during the "wash" cycle, this is almost certainly a corroded agitator shaft seized up in the transmission.

Loose agitator Maytag LAT2600AAE

Look toward the bottom end of the agitator. There should be a small indentation where a 10mm screw is. This screw holds the agitator the the transmission shaft. Sometimes the screw works loose and needs to be tightened.
