Probably all it needs is the proper driver. You should have gotten several disks with the laptop containing OS, drivers, etc. If not, go to the Acer's site and download the proper drivers and install them. They will have installation instructions posted or for download. Unfortunately, I can't tell you who manufactured the webcam in your PC. Should be available on Acer's website.

I do find it odd that Win 7 doesn't have the drivers already installed tho. Most major webcams are covered, especially if you bought the laptop with Win 7 installed.

Can also try going to device manager and uninstalling the webcam, then reboot. Windows will reinstall the webcam. Try updating the driver from device manager also.

Dell has withdrawn the creative webcam driver fitted in this notebook.

But laptopbeep has kept a windows 7 version which should work.

My e525 laptop was formatted and i lost the previous intsallation disks and i want to restore the web cam which is built in on the laptop

Just go into the laptops website and type in the make and model number and search for a tab that says downloads.. There you should be able to find all the drivers needed.. Let me know if this solved the problem..

How new is the chicony web cam? Was it designed for Windows 7 or a previous ver. of windows?
Sometimes older cameras won't work with windows 7. That's why I asked that question.

There are some video cam that are not compatible with the NEW operating system like for windows 7. But still try to install software driver for video cam express and maybe it works. Or if you can find driver for OS windows 7

Your video camera needs a driver made specifically for Win 7. Go to the manufacturer's site and download it. If they don't have one for 7 try the one for Vista, it usually works.

I have a presario c700. after installing windows 7, the web cam is not detectable. Why is that?

Because most of the companies have not yet released the drivers for win7. Anyways here is a driver with compatibility mode with your existing web cam possibly a bit efficiency of cam may decrease. Update the driver when its officially released.

In windows 7 webcam work as plug and play, In case if through plug and play web cam is not working then insert the webcam installation disk and after complete the installation plug the web cam and it will work fine.
