Just for your info, I use the program named Universal Extractor to unpack DBX files. I would suggest using the Binary Archive, because the installer version associates the program with DAT, BIN, DBX, and a couple of other file types.
Recovery Toolbox for Outlook Express to extract all messages that should be recovered from the dbx repair file. You should save all extracted messages to the hard drive as message files in the eml format before a repairing Outlook Express.

When Outlook express reaches over 2GB limit this problem might occurs. Because now you are not supposed to put any new message in it. You just left with two choices either you deleted some files or use some tool to export the current data of DBX file and save it for future. Therefore if the size of the DBX file is not decreased upto 2GB then their are chances of permanent data loss. So instead of deleting DBX file it is good to export them to another file format and save them for future. For this you can use the latest version of DBX to PST converter. Which export DBX file to Outlook easily and save them against further corruption. It also has the feature to split file while exporting.
