Why if my antena is hooked to my dvd player is it not getting channels but my tv is if dvd player is turned off

The reason probably is because all broadcast TV is digital, and the em-55 tuner is set for analog channels. It cannot receive today's broadcasts "thru the air" because channel 2 for example is not broadcast, rather channel 2.1, 2.2, etc.

You can use the signal with a new TV, but when you turn ON the em-55, it inserts channel 3.
Most all TV here has what I call sidebands, and some have as many as 11, so the tv can be set for 3.1, or 3.2 or 3.3.

Even if you have a digital-to-analog device, the em-55 will not receive any .1, .2, .3, .4 and so on. I verified this recently reconnecting my old antenna to the converter then to several VCR's and DVD players.

Turn off the em-55, and the dot channels pass through the RF connectors..
Some DISH, cable direct TV receivers convert the signal to ch 3.

Sharp aquos 60 inch. Setup ok went thru ez scan for channels then not sure if i hit something getting settings right but now all it does is repeatedly tell me to search for channels even right after it...

Look in the menu to see if in catv or cable band or air band for antenna and you do have a way around this if using cable box or sat box---connect box via the jacks on the rear of the box (component or composite--component being better) and hook up to the correct matching input on rear of set--select that input on the set and change channels etc via the box.

Also try to unplug set for a short time and go through the setup again, be patient as a channel scan can take several minutes in some cases

Let me know what happens of if you have questions

I do not know how to do a channel scan, can you help me please? I seriously thought that I could find anything online but I have not been able to find how to channel scan this tv.

What brand/model TV do you have? If the TV has several input options, make sure that the TV is set to the TV mode. (Use the Input or Source button on the remote, some TVs have this on the TV as well but not always)

Some can only do a channel scan with the original remote. My old Emerson CRT (~20 years old) launched a channel scan when I pressed the Add and Delete Channel buttons together on the remote. Fortunately even when most of the buttons failed on that remote, the channel scan still launched.

Other TVs from that time frame have an channel scan button in the control panel. Often these are hidden behind a panel to avoid accidental resets.

More modern TVs usually have the scan as part of the menu. Depending on the TV, press Menu on the remote (or if available on the TV (sometimes can be done by pressing Ch+/Ch- together)). Then look for a Setup option or a TV icon. If you have a Setup menu, you will then need to go to the TV submenu. Then find the option for setting the input signal (TV/cable) and then you should be able to launch a channel scan. (Usually the Ch+/Ch- (up/down) and Vol+/Vol- (left/right) buttons will navigate through the menus.)

Unfortunately, without the make and model, I can't give you any more help. Please write back with your brand of TV and I'll check if I have the manual in my stack.

(low end universal remotes do not always include the menu or source button. If your TV doesn't have them, you may need a different remote. The ones that can be programmed via a USB connection are the easiest to set up.)

I need to do a channel scan on my tv to get the service working but i cannot find channel scan options on the menu. Where is the channel scan option on the sharp LC-32SB24?

During power up and first time use, there should have been an option for channel scanning as the initial setup wizard began.

Alternatively, there should be a way to navigate to the channel scanning menu by selecting, Menu>TV>Auto Channel Search. I couldn't get the exact info from the model you listed, but I gathered this info from a similar owner's manual (lc-32sb28ut) from the Sharp webpage: http://www.sharpusa.com/CustomerSupport/ProductDownloads.aspx

Hope this helps.

I am setting up my proview pa-32jk1sa, for the first time. we have dish network, but all my tv says is please scan channels. i have my coaxial plugged into hdtv, and also went to settings for hdtv and set...

chances are that your reciever is outputting conventional NTSC .. not high def ... so you would scan for standard channels not hdtv .. if chanel selection is done by the satelite reciever then the scan will only find one channel 3 or 4 usually (or better yet you can use Svideo or component oututs if it has them .... if the receiver is a block converter that uses the tv to tune channels then you should get more channels detected ..

Element Electronics FLX2211B 22 in. LCD TV will reset every time

I have run into the same problem with a different model (32 inch from Circuit City). You may have found that there is almost no support from the co or web. I do not have an official solution but have some work arounds that have done the job for me.
WA#1 = after a channel scan tune to a HD/digital channel before you turn the set off. You need to do this each time for several times, because the set when turned on to a regular cable or analog station will default to skip all channels. After several times the set should remember your channels.
WA#2 = after a channel scan, go to the skip channel section of the menu, and if your remote has the colored buttons on the bottom scroll through the channels using the red and green (up and down on this menu) buttons. This apparently helps the set remember not to skip your scanned channels.
These are not glamorous solutions but appear to trick the TV into not re-setting the skip function for the channels.
Best of luck.

Can't go above Channel 20 when input on Video.

I was told by Sanyo and Toshiba that I will have to have a Sanyo remote in order to change the tuner from TV to CATV which he said is causing me to be unable to get above a certain channel and also to change the settings in order to use the Progressive scan cables, so I have emailed a remote finder site and they are trying to find a Sanyo remote for me.

WIRELESS NETWORKING

There are several problems reported that may cause disconnection. First is the hiding of the SSID (wireless network name) and enabling WEP or WPA encryption. The recommended solution for that is to unhide the SSID in the router configuration.

Second is that there are more and more wireless devices and occasionally interference occurs on a single channel (even from non computer devices like wireless phones. As routers are often set to channel 6 you may be competing for radio communications with your neighbors. The recommendation is to switch the router to either channel 1 or 11. If your first choice does not work try the other.
