My TI-83 has the result that ln10E4 is 11.51 when it should be 9.2. Is there a different setting under MODE that I need to change?

Confirmed that I'm not entering log, 10Ex, or e^x

The natural log of 10E4 is about 11.51. The natural log of 1E4 is about 9.21.

Do you want the log of 10 to the fourth (ten thousand) or of 10 to the fifth (one hundred thousand)? What keys are you pressing to enter the argument? If you press 1 0 2ND EE 4 then you're inputting ten times ten to the fourth or ten to the fifth. If you want ten to the fourth, enter it as 1 2ND EE 4 .

TI-83 Plus: I tried changing the number of decimal places to 4, by the following: MODE + NORMAL + FLOAT then right arrow but the numbers there are 0123456789 and I cannot change that. Help

When you reach the FLOAT line and see the string of numbers 01 234 etc. you are supposed to use the right arrow to highlight one of the numbers in the string of digits. If for example you highlight the number 4 and validate, your results will be displayed with 4 decimal places.

Your calculator is set to display results in engineering notation, where the exponent is always a multiple of three. To change the display notation, press the MODE button. Use the arrow keys to make your selection. You probably want to highlight "Normal" on the top line, press ENTER, highlight "Float" on the second line, press ENTER. Press 2ND [QUIT] to exit the mode screen.

My texas instrument ti-83 plus gives me my answers in a decimal form, such as 6/2=3.00

That is its default mode. If you want results in fraction format, type in the expression and before pressing the [enter] key, press [MATH] then select [1:>Frac] and press [ENTER].

How do i turn theta off on the [X,T, theta, n] key on a TI-83 Plus calculator?

That key gives theta when the calculator is set to polar graphing mode. It gives X in the function mode, T in the parametric mode, and n in the sequence mode.

To change the mode, press MODE to bring up the mode screen. Use the arrow keys to move to the fourth line and highlight the desired mode. Press ENTER to make the change, then press 2ND [QUIT] to exit the mode screen.

Press MODE to enter the mode editor. Scroll to the second line and select FLOAT or a larger number of digits than the 2 it appears to be in now.

My TI-83 Plus Calculator automatically round off my answers. How do I turn it off.

Hello,
Press [MODE]. Use arrow down to go to second line Float. Use left arrow key to move cursor to a number other than zero and press [ENTER]. If you highlight 2 your results will have 2 decimal digits, but if 0 is highlighted all results will be integers (no decimals).
Hope it helps.

TI 83 Plus won't turn on after battery change

I was having the same problem...I found the info below on another blog and it helped me fix my calculator problem. Take out all the batteries, hold the DEL button and put the batteries back in (keep holding the DEL button until all batteries are put back in). This will restart the calculator and restore it to its default settings...but it makes it work again!

"Reflashing the OS is probably the thing to do now. I think there's some trick that throws the calc into OS receiving mode. Hold down DEL while putting the batteries in? I don't remember if that's it. Go to 1-800-TI-CARES/[email protected] if you need specifics on getting the calc to take an OS upload given the state it's in."
