You will probably need to remove the tailgate interior trim panel and take a look at the internals. You should be able to open it from inside but removing the panel with the tailgate closed is often a difficult process that inevitably causes some cosmetic damage.

Hi, I have a 2007 Acura MDX and the tail liftgate won't open.

There could be several reasons why the liftgate on your Acura MDX is not opening all the way. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the latch mechanism: Make sure that the latch mechanism on the liftgate is not damaged or stuck. You may be able to manually release the latch by pushing on the release button or pulling on the emergency release cord (if your vehicle has one).
  2. Inspect the liftgate struts: The liftgate struts may be worn out or damaged, preventing the liftgate from opening all the way. If the struts are the issue, they will need to be replaced.
  3. Check the liftgate hinges: Make sure that the hinges on the liftgate are not damaged or stuck. If the hinges are the problem, they may need to be lubricated or replaced.
  4. Check the wiring and connections: Make sure that all of the wiring and connections to the liftgate motor and latch mechanism are secure and in good condition.
  5. Check for any foreign objects: Make sure that there are no foreign objects blocking the liftgate from opening all the way.
If you have tried these troubleshooting steps and are still unable to get the liftgate to open, it may be necessary to have the issue diagnosed and repaired by a mechanic.

I have a 07 Cadillac srx the rear hatch was working fine then the lift motor would run but nothing would happen but I could open it from out side with the handle I replaced the lift assembly and now it...

That's why you should take it to a qualified repair shop. Before replacing part's a factory or professional type scanner should be hooked up to see if the control module will communicate an to see if DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's are stored , before checking power an grounds . How did you test power an ground's ? voltmeter - ohmmeter ? Should do loaded circuit voltage test . using a headlamp or something that pull's at leat 4 amp's .

Power Liftgate System Components
• Liftgate motor assembly
• Liftgate latch
• Liftgate module (LGM)
• Liftgate side upper sensor - left
• Liftgate side upper sensor - right
• Liftgate handle switch
• Liftgate close switch
• GMLAN serial data link
• PWR LIFT GATE 30 amp fuse
• PLG 10 amp mini-fuse

Liftgate Module
The liftgate module controls the liftgate motor, liftgate clutch, and liftgate latch based on various inputs. The liftgate module also performs diagnostics on these inputs and outputs and will disable liftgate functionality and set DTCs should a fault be detected. The liftgate module is secured to the motor assembly at the left rear of the vehicle. The module requires a liftgate position learn procedure be performed when replacing. This allows the module to learn the full open and full closed positions of the liftgate.

2007 yukon, lift gate will not open electrically or manually?

You should still be able to open itmanually? Unless the lock is not functioning. There may be a plastic plug that pops off on the inside of the liftgate panel so that you can open it. You have to remove the plug and then move the lever with a screw driver. All that being said most likely have some broken wires in the boot at the top of the liftgate where it connects to the body. These wires tend to break from constant flexing when the liftgate is opened and closed. Either way you have to get the liftgate open to inspect them

Mu rear liftgate will not lock with the fob or the key. All other doors work fine.

is it possible there is a "lockout button " or switch that has been activated-either in the glove box, on the floor next to drivers seat(near door opening) or even inside the center console where u would rest your elbow?? THIS BUTTON/SWITCH would prevent key/fob from unlocking liftgate. ALSO CHECK to make sure that ther is nothing caught(fabric/clothes) near the LATCH WHERE LIFTGATE ENGAGES. this can definitely cause a problem!

The back glass liftgate will not open. When you

They use this tiny blue PLASTIC (pain-in-the-***) arm in the mechanism that unlatches the hatch that's probably broken that is techincally called a Window Actuator Rod Retainer. I had this happen to me last year -- you have to take apart the gate from the inside (you'll probably break a few of the plastic secure holds, I think there were about 16 holding the plastic cover over the gate). It takes a while, but the part is cheap and very easy to replace. I ordered mine off http://www.rockauto.com/ for $3.96 and it comes with two (Hmm, must be expecting it to break again).

Have a 2002 chevy suburban, liftgate window will not open

Sounds like you have a wiring problem to your liftgate. Check the wires where they come out of the body, and go into the liftgate. If they are good, check fuses, or possibly a module.

PT Cruiser LAtch won't operate

If the latch won't operate when you use the handle, try inserting the key, turning it, and pulling up on the liftgate while the key is in the turned position (it won't stay there, so you need to hold it turned while you raise the liftgate.
