No picture High pitch squeal RCA F36650

Hi, I have a RCA F36650 with no picture and a high pitch squeal. After checking out your site I found this solution:

replace flyback transformer (IHVT).Also,replace
horiz output transistor w/OEM or better quality.

I was curious if you had any more information about which components they are or what exactly they look like. I have a degree in electronics so I'm not to afraid to touch the stuff(well maybe a little) but I want to make sure I replace the right parts, also I've since changed fields and I'm a bit rusty. Thank you in advance

I have the exact same problem on mine. The advice offered by 'Terrific' seems like good advice and I am about to order the parts he recommeded to replace. I just wish that his answer hadn't been paraphrased. I wish I could see his whole solution. Would it be possible for you to e-mail it to me Mr. Terrific? I would be very appreciative. Confirm service # from back of set = F36650 YX01..........
Transformer red HV lead attaches to CRT & Horiz output
xistor is on heatsink next to transformer = 2SC5148 .........
Rca part # 257805 or ASTI 2078 and 237470 xistor............
Do not use a generic transistor = name brand only............T.

High pitch noise and the power light flashes.

most likely it is the flyback transformer. I have had meny RCA tv's with a bad Flyback and H.O.T transistor bad. Cost depends on the service center. Parts average around $60.00 dealer, so depending on mark up and shop labor it could vary greatly. If you have never changed these parts it is best to have a service man do it ... Take it to the shop and save the trip call charge $49.00 and up to $125.00..

RCA Model f27650 High pitch squeal

the high pitch squeal indicates shorted component/s. the transformer goes hot co'z its being overloaded by the shorted component, it too could be the one creating the squeal!!

if you have experience with electronic troubleshooting, try to test some of the components particularly on the secondary part of the transformer.
Be careful and make sure the TV set is unplugged.
test for shorted diodes and transistors, if you're in doubt of your readings try to desoldering one leg of the diode then proceed with the testing/measuring. replace any of the bad components you find exactly with same part number or replacements with the same rating.

spend more time on it resoldering some other cold soldered components.

RCA F36650 Television . . .

It can be repaired. It sounds like a bad high voltage transformer or something in that circuit. I would take it to a TV shop and ask for an estimate. It might be costly to repair.

Horizontal line

It looks like the squeal or high pitch is produced by the flyback part # 257805. Also check the the secondary side of the power supply for around 130VDC if that voltage is found to be lower than 120VDC I would suggest to replace CP80 with a 100 mfd@250 vdc. Part # 218374
Globalsemi.com has these parts, for the flyback transformer just type in search for FLY-391, this one is cheaper than the genuine(257805) fly back.
Good Luck.

No picture no sound only the power light turn on and off

Hmm, sounds like a fuse has blown, and this is a problem that I recommend only those comfortable around high voltages try to fix......
