"Unfortunately the microwave will need to be taken apart to replace the bulb. You'll need a size T-20 safety torx bit screwdriver to remove the screws coming in from the back of the microwave around the right left and top edges. Start by unplugging the microwave. Then remove all the screws going into the outer shell and then the outer shell will pull straight back, up, and off. Now you have access to the bulb on the right side of the microwave cavity so you can replace it. The reason Magic Chef did this was because it forces you to unplug the microwave. Before they allowed you to change it by just opening the door and people wouldn't unplug the microwave which would cause the display board to short out when you replaced the bulb."
There should a sliding panel of glass or plastic covering the light. Remove the glass or plastic then you should see the light bulb. If the light buld is a regular old bulb unscrew it if its a small floorisent bulb twist it so it will roll out of its sitting position. Then you can take the bulb to any hardware store to match the bulb. DO NOT PAY FOR SOME ONE TO CHANGE A LIGHT BULB....Please if this helped you post that I helped you with the correct answer so i may get credit....
I have had this trouble before but with a different model. There may be a plastic screen inside the microwave that will just pop off exposing the bulb. Now all you will need to do is to find out what type of bulb you will need to change the other bulb. I hope this made things easier on you.
The service number for this microwave is 1-800-422-1230. I have seen this question posted on several sites with no answers. Also, I checked the Owner's Manual and I do not see an answer to this question. If I had to guess, I would say that if there is no access from the inside of the microwave, you may have to remove it from the wall as the access might be on the back of the unit.
You have to remove the outer cabinet to access the bulb. Please be careful doing this because the capacitor inside holds enough energy to kill you. And obvioulsy you have to have it unplugged before you take it apart. Many of these microwave ovens had light bulbs that came with the base and all (no socket) so you had to replace the whole base, not just the bulb. But chances are yours will have a bulb that will unscrew from a socket. Again don't touch anything else in there. You may want to consider having a tech do it for you if you're not used to working around high voltage. Good luck
the light bulb is usually in cavity behind the control board.to access that first remove the outer cover of the unit by removing all screw at the back.after removing the cover u will have access to yhe cavity behind the cntrl board and the light bulb.....good luck.
But it doesn't seem to mention a way for you to change the lamp.
Manufacturers used to include access panels in the rear or side so you could easily change the bulb. That exposed the customer to 110V connectors, and that posed a real liability threat, so they stopped using them.
You now must generally remove the outer cover to replace the bulb.
