Several different reasons.
It could be a loose or damaged cord. Inspect the cord, is it loose, any dents, frays, damage etc. ?
If not, it may be the switch, does it still make a nice click sound when you turn it, does it feel loose or different from normal?

If not it may be your motor, was there a burning smell or any sounds to indicate the motor going out?

SOURCE: Rainbow E Series Suction Problem

Being an E series some have a corrgated filter in the top, there is also a filter on the back. Could be a motor problem, not turning as fast as it should, in which case you will have to replace the motor. You might check, some had a 10 year warranty on the motor. If you are the original owner and only have had it 5 years, then it may be covered.

SOURCE: Rainbow aqua mate II instructions

You have the vacuum and the basin, you put them together just like when you vacuum but don't put water in the basin. There is a large white container that comes with the shampooer. you fill that up with water and then you place the vacuum cleaner and the basin on top of that. Now you will need the water hose (not the one that has the gas pump hadle). Hook that in the same spot that you do for vacuuming. Then you take the shampooing handle( it will have a trigger and a little white bottle and some tubes hooked to it) the one end of it hooks to the water hose and the other end hooks to the wands. There are 2 wands that come with your shampooer. At the end of those the shampooer head will be attached. There are two separate tubes there is a thick tube ( there two tubes fused together) and a thin tube, they hook to the large white container that you fill with water. Just look and you will see where they go. Then there is a tube that hooks to the shampooer head at the bottom. The you take the little bottle and fill it with your shampoo. You should have gotten some clips to hool onto your hose so that you can keep the tubes attached to it so they aren't in the way. You should be set. I hope I helped.

I am looking for a repair manual for this vacuum. Just stopped working and will not turn on. Can you tell me where to get a manual? Thanks

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Rainbow E Series Canister Wet/Dry Vacuum. The best way to get a Rainbow E Series owner’s manual is to contact the Rainbow website and or factory and give them the model and serial # for the item and you may be able to download the manual from the website or the might have to mail it out to your home USPS. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

SOURCE: Rainbow Model e Series will not start. Where is the reset button on this vaccum?

There is no reset button on the canister. It may be a bad power switch, a power cord, or the button that presses in when you put the water basin in place may be bad - or the prong on the water basin that pushes that button in when you place the canister on the basin may be broken off.

The belt on the power nozzle is so tight that it is not turning and the power nozzle won't turn on when you press the handle

Possible bearing in the motor or brush roll is locked up. Check to see if the light comes on. If it does not, then you have an electrical problem but that is a separate problem from the belt being tight. Let us know if you need service....www.rainvac.com

Vacuum won't turn on

Be sure to that the latches are connected to the water pan. The eSERIES and up will not turn on without the water pan latched. If that is not the issue, please call us and speak to a Rainbow Specialist.

My Rainbow E Series Vacuum won't turn on at all after it just worked fine

Allowing to sit on water pan for only 3 hours is not going to kill your Rainbow by itself. If there is no more information to this issue than what you described, the problem could be the motor is going bad and the thermal cut off is tripped. Possible reason it didn't do it while you were running the unit, is the motor cooling fan kept the temperature inside the motor just below the tripping point and then when you turned the machine off, this allowed the temperature to creep up past the limit and trip the thermal cut off.

Won't start

Be sure to have it connected to the water pan. The eSERIES and above will not run without the water pan attached. If that is not the issue, give us a call and speak to a Rainbow Specialist.
