Can't eliminate small gap between cabinet bottom and top of microwave

If the new oven was installed according to its installation instructions, new hardware was used, new holes were drilled (into properly supported wood structure) and the opening matched the specs outlined in the instructions, it should fit.

If not, it seems like that would have been evident as you went along.

I would first retrace my steps along with the instructions, not making any assumptions, and that will probably reveal the error.

My over the range microwave door will not open because it is hitting the cabinet....how cn I fox this? Don't want to get rid of the cabinet

The micowave will need to be relocated where there is more room, or the cabinet. The final option is working with a smaller microwave oven.

Micro wave light is on but it will not cook. I tried to remove the shell, casing, but two (2) of the screws have a different head and I could not remove them using a traditional phillips head screwdriver

Many ovens use tamper-resistant screws to discourage people from taking the cover off. It's meant as a safety (that is, fear of lawsuit) measure since microwave ovens use hazardous voltages that can kill you. You can find bits to fit these screws at Home Depot, Sears and many other places if you're determined to get the cover off.

With all due respect, though, you should probably leave microwave service to a professional. As I mentioned above, YOUR OVEN CAN KILL YOU if you don't know what you're doing. That's why Sharp stuck those strange screws in.

I have a two year old GE JVM1540 Over the oven microwave. For some reason the keypad does not respond to any touch. It just has the display panel scrolls press start but doesn't allow any action.

These units are known for this problem. You cook on stove and stream gets into keypad causing keypad not to respond anymore. The good news is keypad can be replaced, the bad news is it will happen again and the keypad costs around $125. GE will not admit to any problem, but I see this problem alot. You can get a new keypad at appliancepartspros.com

Instalation Instructions for Frigidaire Over the Range Microwave 850 Watt Model #FMT118EPB

HI,

Frigidaire makes several over-the-range microwave models that are all installed in the same manner. To install correctly, you must have at least 45 1/2 inches from the bottom of the top cabinet to the cooking surface of the stove to provide enough clearance for the microwave. The top cabinet must also be at least 30 inches wide and 12 inches deep. Find someone to help you, then follow the steps below to install your Frigidaire microwave.

Things You'll Need:
  • Stud finder or hammer
  • Screwdriver
  • Drill
Instructions

Pull your range away from the wall so you can work comfortably. If this is not possible, cover it with a drop cloth. Find and mark the locations of the studs in the wall behind the range. They will be either 16 or 24 inches apart.

Follow the instructions on the wall template to mark the location of the mounting bracket and the four anchor holes on the wall and the bottom of the cabinet. Drill the anchor holes. Follow the instructions on the top cabinet template to mark and drill the two holes in the bottom of the cabinet.

Attach the mounting bracket to the wall studs using the six wood screws included with your microwave. Screw the toggle nuts onto the toggle bolts and push one through each of the four drilled holes. Screw each toggle bolt until the nut is snug against the inside of the wall.
Pick up the oven with your helper. Plug the oven into the outlet and slide the oven onto the mounting bracket arms. Push the oven back against the wall. Tighten the two screws on the microwave faceplate to fasten the microwave to the mounting bracket arms.
Attach the louver to the top of the microwave with the three provided screws. Insert the two top cabinet screws and washers from the top cabinet into the microwave and fasten tightly.

Take care.

Wall mounting needed for a top mount microwave/hood combination Whirlpool Model MH2175SB1. The cabinet above the stove is too flimsy to support the heavy microwave (50-60 pounds). Called Whirlpool. Sent me...

Is there a wall behind where the microwave is to fit?

Most of these ship with a mounting plate and instructions for mounting to the wall. In fact, the wall bracket carries about 1/2 the weight, and the overhead cabinets carry the other half. The plates come with a good set of instructions for how to install.

Whirlpool is sending you to a distributor because they have to watch liability in this litigous world we live in..

Microwave won't fit under cabinet so I am wanting to set it on top of a cabinet and was wondering how much clearance is needed underneath for proper ventilation, this is the hanging type.

You can download Maytag owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

That's where you'll find the answer.

This kind of setup sounds like it could be very unstable, so proceed with great caution.

I have a Ge spacesaver model #JVM1350 microwave that I picked up at a sale, and was wondering when installing if the bolts on top go directly thru the cabinet bottom or is there a bracket? Thanks

I assume you also have the wall mount plate with your oven.
That wall mount carries the bulk of the ovens weight and you normally do use the long screws to bring the front of the oven up to the bottom of the cabinet above the unit. Filler blocks made to fit and to the correct thickness ( to fill the gap between the bottom of the cabinet and the top of the oven) are usually made so that the oven 'nests' snuggly to the underside of that cabinet. Without templates to get holes properly lined up.. they aren't that easy to locate the clearance holes in that cabinet. You can get user manual and installation details at this GE website..
