1. IS THE NEEDLE THE RIGHT SIZE FOR THE MATERIAL?
2. IS THE HOOP BIG ENOUGH FOR THE JOB? IF IT GOES OVER THE EDGE THE NEEDLES WILL BREAK.
3 IS IT SEWING AT ALL? ARE YOU HAVING PROBLEMS WITH GOOD STITCHES OR NONE AT ALL.? THIS WILL NEED YOUR REPAIRMAN TO TIME YOUR MACHINE.
4. FOR A TEST ON TIMING: REGULAR SEWING WITH STRAIGHT STITCH. 1. PLACE NEEDLE ALL THE WAY TO LEFT AND TRY SEWING. 2. PLACE NEEDLE ALL THE WAY TO RIGHT AND TRY SEWING.
WAS THERE ANY NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE? IF THERE WAS THAT TELLS YOU TO GET IT TIMED.

The needle keeps colliding with bobbin case

If the needle hits the bobbin case, it may break the tip of the needle. This usually happens if the bobbin case is not placed correctly. After cleaning your sewing machine, you may fail to put back the bobbin case into its original alignment.

I need a schematic for a Brother 6700 embroidery machine. I cleaned the bobbin case and around it and now the machine is making lots of noise.

It is probably one of two things,
1st..always put the needle plate on before you install the bobbin case. You can lock the bobbin case down by putting the needle plate on after putting the bobbin case in. Take off the plate and remove the bobbin case, install the needle plate, then install the bobbin case.
2nd...your bobbin case may be damaged now, if it is scratatched or chipped get a new case.

Good Luck

Why doesn't the machine pick up the bobbin?

You may have fuzz in your bobbin case or under the plate. If you have canned air, spray it out. Are you using a pre-wound bobbin or one you wound yourself. I've found pre-wounds to be the best. Make sure your thread is pulled thru the bobbin case correctly and your needle up top is threaded correctly too. It's real easy to miss either one. Also, be sure to use a good backing when using fuzzy fabric. What size needle are you using. Too small of a needle may cause this also. For standard embroidery or sewing usually use an 11. Hope maybe this will help. Kindest regards,
Jody

How to adjust timing on my sewing machine

There is a possibility that your needle depth is not correct. IF the needle doesn't go down far enough into the bobbin case when sewing, the hook can't complete the stitch every time under sewing speed. Please take your machine in to a authorized repair shop. These repairs are multi-layered and you more than likely don't have the proper gauges and spacers to correctly set the timing on your machine. The needle depth has a measured setting inside the repair manual we aren't allowed to own.

Brother Sewing Embroidery Machine

I agree with sylviaivie about find another repairman, they are suppose
to guarantee the work they do.
when the upper shaft is replaced & then the machine is retimed
the machine should work just fine.
but just don't take it back to that man to be repaired
here is a tip if it happens again,,
always try to cut the top thread first,
& turn the machine up on it's back to access the bottom cover
take the cover off the bottom to get access to the bobbin thread
where you can cut the bobbin thread
then you should be able to get the needle out without breaking it &
damaging the upper shaft, replace the needle & make sure
that the thread is good quality & not knotty, clean out the bobbin area of lint or thread
always change the needle on the embroidery machine every project
make sure the bobbin area is kept clean of lint or thread
clean under the needle plate at least once a week for lint if you
embroidery everyday or just often

My Husqvarna diamond top thread keeps breaking while doing loop embroidery. It sews a couple of stitches and then you can hear when the thread breaks. Ive tried changing the needle and bobbin, and cleaning...

Hello

Primary causes of upper thread breakage:

-- misthreading: pull all the thread off and thread again, using the manual, step by step. Read each step aloud before you do it. (sounds dumb, but helps.) (And make sure you thread the takeup lever!)

-- thread has wrapped itself around a thread guide or spool pin from one of the breaks. Take the spool off the machine before rethreading.

-- bad or damaged needle. Replace with the right size for the fabric, turned correctly (backwards needles skip stitches)

-- dirty machine, especially in the bobbin case area: review cleaning instructions and do it, using brush and vacuum only

-- bad/cheap thread: should not be slubby or break easy. Try another spool.

-- top thread tension too tight. 4 is normal for most fabrics, most stitches.

Tips;

1) do a light cleaning (brush and vacuum) every day you sit down to sew.

2) replace the needle if you hear it hit metal, if you've got a really bad thread jam, if you see it deflect as you sew (for instance, sewing over the side seam on jeans when hemming). Replace every 3-8 hours of actual stitching time anyhow.

3) buy good quality thread

4) when your machine isn't sewing right, stop; take all the thread off of/out of the machine (bobbin out of bobbin case, spool off spool pin) and give it a quick cleaning. Rethread from scratch, carefully. If that doesn't fix it, do it again, then replace needle and rethread one more time, manual in hand (yah, even if you've threaded it 8 million times before). #4 is curative about 98% of the time. The other 2% often requires professional attention.

I think the timing is off on my singer 7430 -- it keeps breaking needles and I can see where the needle hits the bottom of the bobbin casing when it is in the fully down position -- any quick fix?

Drop-in bobbin?

Refer to the maintenance section of the manual for cleaning.

Raise the needle to it's highest position and remove the bobbin and bobbin case.

Clean the shuttle and replace the bobbin case, noting the graphic in the instruction manual for aligning the case into the shuttle.

Turn the handwheel to see if the needle now clears the outer edge of the bobbin case.
