Some vehicles have separate fuses to each headlight so you won't be left in the dark, so to speak. A light-bulb type circuit tester can tell you if you have power to the socket and you can clip the ground lead to a known good ground. If you have power to the socket, you may have a bad ground connection. The bulb circuit tester is also good for finding bad fuses and bad connections elsewhere.

Get a test light and check for power in the socket. If you do have power then you might have a bad ground. Then go to the next step.

SOURCE: 2003 Mercury Sable headlight bulb replacement

This problem is now resolved, thanks to a prior post by sableowner.

The 2003 Sable has the same headlight assembly and removal/replacement instructions as the 2001 Sable. Once I had this information in hand, bulb replacement was easy.

SOURCE: How do you replace a Drivers side headlight bulb 2006 kia spectra

Helps to remove the battery, but small ahbds can do it.

Directly behind the lens is a big round cap ... twist it off. The bulb is held in place with a spring that locks in to a notch in the holder. When handling the new bulb, don't touch the glass. The oil from your skin will cause it to shatter when turned on.

Have no parking or tail lights

Check the ground wire. At the rear, on the drivers side, mounted to the frame. Run new ones if necessary.

Headlights not working

There's a relay in the headlight circuit. That and the fuse a common failure with headlights.
Try to locate the relay, It should be near the battery or the drivers side firewall.
Hope this helps.

1994 dodge dakota my headlights and tail lights and brake lights don't work my abs and parking brake lights are on my dash lights don't work either I replaced the headlight switch and still no

These are all different circuits. The brake lights are on a 10amp fuse - the headlights are on a 50amp fuse - and the parking and dash lights are on a 20amp fuse.
Do you have power going into the headlight switch and the brake light switch ?

I installed HID headlights and fog lights about 2 months ago and the passanger side went out. i took the drivers side bulb and put it into the passanger side to see if the bulb or the ballast was bad and...

The headlights run through a relay (#46) through the BCM. If the relay were bad (very common and has a recall) both lights would not work. Sooo, I'm thinking check the wiring and pigtail that goes to the bulb. People that use Silverstar halogeon bulbs will burn that wire and or the connector. Make sure these are sound, check for power at the connector too.

How do you get in to change the headlight bulb on the 2004 Dodge Dakota

Remove the single torx screw holding the parking lamp assembly to the headlamp assembly. Remove the parking lamp bulb and sockets from the main assembly and set aside. Remove the three bolts holding the headlamp assembly. Pull the headlamp assembly forward off of the alignment pin and disconnect the harness from the back of the bulbs. Turn the bulb holder and pull the bulb out. Replace in reverse. Total replacement should take 15 minutes. Gregg

Thanks for the tips Gregg! Indeed, don't work anywhere but in front of the grill. Notes from my adventure:
You'll need a t-10 torx skinny screwdriver, and a 10mm socket wrench/driver.
Find the little torx screw near the bottom side of the headlight nearest the wheel and remove it. Tug and wiggle on the turn signal unit and it'll come loose. You'll find three 10mm bolts that hold the headlight unit in. More tug and wiggle and the unit falls free. After bulb replacement (don't touch the glass or finger oils can cause it break under high heat) replace the headlight unit. You'll see little plastic guides that the signal unit slides into- replace the unit and the tiny screw that holds it all in place. Replace the other bulb too, the second one takes a tenth of the time :)

I have a 2003 dodge dakota with the drivers side window not working and the parking lights also not working

I would check all the fuses. The the window motor , then the parking light switch .

if all the above parts have good power and ground then the body control module is going out.
