This is caused by one of two things; a bad LED grouping (most common cause) either because the LEDs are bad or the power distributor fuse is blown and the group isn't getting power from the power supply unit. Or two: bad pixel group. But I'd check your backlight power supply for bad connections, blown fuses, or check your led groups for bad leds.

All connections are good. I can't locate the distributor fuse. Is it a tube fuse type? im assuming checking the LEDs I have to get behind the screen ?

  • Kristoffer Martin Jan 29, 2015

Check to make sure your power distro unit which should be plugged into the power supply and the backlight cables are not damaged. You may have to remove the LCD display from the LED backlight panel to see if there is any other damage.

I can't find anything on the Internet about this issue. Mostly vertical lines and I don't think this is the same problem

It could be, but usually dim led backlights are caused by power not being sent to the luster of leds. At this point I'd suggest taking it to a professional to be diagnosed.

It is most likely the tube going out. Find some one to replace the tube if the TV is fairly new other wise it is going to be a trend. One tube now and another.. and so on. Ride it out as long as you can then go for an upgrade

SOURCE: My rear projection TV has color spots in the

What is the make and model of TV. If it is a Panasonic that has different colored spots such as pink, blue etc. Then you need t6o contact Panasonic as this is a memory reset that they have to perform on the LCD driver board. Other brands of LCD projection sets that have spots that appear all over the screen mostly on white back rounds are almost always dust that has settled on the LCD panels. This requires a technician to clean the LCD panels if possible.

it's not a permanent fix, and if you want to fix it completely then disconnect all the cables to the main board(AV board), clean the contacts then put them back as they were. Secondly, look around all the connectors in that area where you loosened the screws
