No I have a amana front loader washer and even with the door closed it wouldn't work not even to spin the water out or finish the cycle I made the door open then thats when it said ds

This is an error involving the door switch, it is actually DS not D5. The door may not be closed properly, try pushing it in. Or you may need a replacement door switch.

Error code 5d/Sd means suds have been detected. To solve this problem you have to take the bottom front panel apart and then clean the drain filter pump assembly completely, make sure the washer is unplugged before working on it. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Make sure you are allowing the washer to completely finish its cycle before opening the door. It is normal for the door to lock at the end of a cycle. The locking mechanism keeps owners from opening the door before all of the water has been drained. If the door on the washer is locked, select the "Drain" or "Spin" options on the front-load washer. This will completely drain the water from the system and unlock the door, allowing you to open it.

you didn't state whether it's a top or front loader. either way, there's a switch activated when the door is closed and washer is in cycle mode- so you can't open the door when a. the front loader has water in it, or b. the top loader is in agitate, or spin cycle. if top loader- there's a tab on the end opposite the hinge side that activates a switch that latches the cover closed when in 'dangerous' cycles (don't want to get your hand caught in the spin cycle!!). either a loose wire or a failed switch! prob. need to gently pop the top (should hinge back) to access the switch. UNPLUG THE WASHER!! if a a loose wire, re-attach-if not, replace switch! easy! good luck!

top loader ??? or front loader??? if top loader you have broken your lid switch, will fill, agitate, but when it comes to drain/spin for safety reasons if the unit doent recognize the lid closed it will not advance...if yo have a front loader then i would suspect that something has gotten into the pump assy and preventing drainiing of water therefore will not spin

My Maytag® Neptune® washer filled with water, but it won't spin or drain-what now?

Start by making sure the machine is plugged into a live (working) electrical outlet. Then check the appropriate circuit breaker and reset it if necessary (or check the fuse if you have a fuse box).

Next, inspect the drain hoses and remove any kinks. Take a look at the drain, too - if it's clogged, call your usual drain service person.

Then close the washer door and firmly press the START/STOP button. In a few moments, after the door locks, the washer should begin to spin. (For your safety, the washer will not tumble or spin unless the door is closed and locked.)

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.

My Frigidaire front loader washer model LTF2140E doesnt want to drain the water when set to wash (heavy-normal-quick selectors). It washes put thats it. I have to switch the selector to drain/spin then rinse/spin cycle to finish the load. I checked the drain hose for any clogs....everything is clear. Any suggestions? Also,iIs their any reset buttons for this type of washer?
