T'Con board fault. In some models of LCD TVS; the backlight inverter and its T'Con board will be a part of the panel itself, and will be a built-in type inside the LCD panel. Try disconnecting all of your HDMI cables and plugging the power cord of the TV into another wall outlet. If this resolves the issue, you may have had a small power surge from either your wall outlet or one of your source devices. It is recommended to connect your TV to a surge protector if you haven't done so already.
I had the same problem with my Viera. if you disconnect the power and ribbon cable from the YSUS board (check youtube for how), the light led will blink 6 times, indicating the YSUS is bad. Check ebay for TNPA5175 board (about $115-160). The "pop" is one of the DG402RP chips burnout. These are about $4, but only available from China. If you can wait a month for delivery, you can solder the new one to replace the bad one. You may want to purchase several in case more are bad or it happens again.
I unpluged mine and the light was still blinking when it was unpluged. I thought that was weird. So I pluged it back in and just heald the power button in untill the light went out. It went out within ten seconds. I pushed the power button again and the tv went on. WOOHOO!!! Just needed reset, I guess.
Same issue with - Panasonic TH-50PX70A , power UP with red standby, then power ON by remote - only Gives GREEN led blinking 35-40 times, followed by solid green led with no no picture no sound.
>> Solution; unplug Plasma from AC 10-15min, then plug in & power on to Red standby led,, At this point - Power ON tv while holding down both -Volume Down and F (function Select) buttons (front panel door) at the same time turns picture ON,all ok.
