Make sure you are using the correct needle for your machine! Also check your manual to make sure you are inserting it properly. Some needles are rounded on one side and flat on the other. If you use the incorrect needle it will hit or insert it incorrectly it will also hit and break. June

Have you changed the needle? Is the foot down before you start sewing? Make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly. These are the most likely of problems. However if the needle is breaking or hitting some part of the lower mechanism then there may be a problem with the timing. However that is not TOO likely. Carefully try these items first and message me back.
These new electronic machines are supposed to be fussy -they kind of stop etc. if there is something not quite right. Just make sure all is ok before proceeding. Then try again. You can do it!

I am now experiencing this same problem! My needle is hitting something in the lower mechanism, and I have no idea how to fix it. The needle is fine and so is the foot- its the lower mechanism that is having the issue.

The needle or the bottom bobin holder on my bernina is mis-aligned or the timing is off so that the needle hits the rotating bobin holder every cycle. Is there a way to adjust this.

There is a way to adjust this though it is quite labor intensive and takes some specialized tools. My first recommendation would be to change the needle. The timing on BERNINA machines is far less likely to be off than on most other modern machines. The chances are far greater that your needle may be bent and is hitting the hook.

I have a problem with the needle shaft. It seems to be overextended by about 1/8" to the front of the machine. My needle is hitting the forward part of the presser foot.

Remove the foot - does the needle hit the needle plate?

Is the needle bent?

If the answer is no to both questions, it could be the machine needs to be taken in for repairs.

After clearing knot from feed dogs, needle keeps hitting something and will not sew

Open the face/needle plate to make sure the bobbin case has not shifted.

Also replace the needle with a new one as the old one may be bent.

My needle hits metal

You have to be putting the bobin in the wrong way or it is not all the way in. I hopr this helps.
