I love my SA-PM 18, but my playback has started skipping and repeating. It is not the discs. Is there anyway I can clean this, or have it cleaned?

I have tried a dust remover/disc cleaner, but it still is doing the same.

Take an ear sward dip it in an alcoholic solvent ( make sure is not dripping) then wipe the lense. if it doesn't work replace with the same lens type from a local electronics store.... how evwer you can get an equivalent will work just as fine .

DVD GO FORWARD BY ITSELF

Hi,
Do you mean DVD jumps / skips forward in playback?
If yes, please clean optical laser lens in player. It sounds optical lens has thin layer of dust and causing ' tracking error ' in playback.
Put CD Lens Cleaner disc in player and press play to clean optical lens by cleaning disc and if problem still exist, need to clean lens manually with good quality cotton bud.
Hope this will solve your problem.
Thanks.

Won't read discs

It is likely that the laser head is very dirty, you could try a cleaning disc to see if that helps the situation at all.

Skiping

Skipping can be the loss of tracking information or a bad motor. Try cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. Also, look at the rails that the optics ride on. clean those using a dry cotton swab. There should be small gears close by that move the optics along the rails. Make sure that the teeth are clear.

Keep us posted on your results.

Lens Knocking Against The CD - All CDs skip or diginoise then fail.

Take the small back cover off and take some electrical grade contact cleaner and spray all around the lens area, that worked for me.
