Question about Televison & Video

Why can't my TV find a digital signal when connected to my digital ready aerial? Tuning for digital stations finds none. Does this TV require a set top box? If not how can I make it find and play n

While the TV function finds nothing when I connect an HDMI cable the TV seem is able to display the signal and seems to be working correctly. But of course one can't change the channels. The remote control seems to work correctly. All the menu functions seem to execute correctly. But no matter what I try I don't seem to be able to get any digital channels via the outdoor aerial using any of the tuning functions. I am close enough to the broadcast signal tower.

Hey, when connect any aerial in the back of the TV make sure you have a look for the name of the connection you use ( Skart,ext1,ext2,usb,hdmi1, hdmi2 etc.) so you can do a search on that extension. if you connect something on Hdmi1 and search on hdmi2 you won't find anything. you have to search on Hdmi1. PS: good luck.

Is your TV designed for digital signals, if not you will need a set top box. Make sure the aerial is in good order and all connections are tight and clean , go into settings on the TV, select digital tuning and press ok , if the TV is in good condition and there is a signal digital to the aerial it will download

Hdtv or converter box

If the TV is already hdtv...no. Try reprogramming tv to find hd stations or if receiving signal from outdoor aerial make sure aerial is digital and facing right direction.

Hi, I live in a flat in London with a shared rooftop aerial (no idea of spec). I have a Sony KDL-46X2000. The built-in freeview tuner doesn't seem to recieve any HD channels. Is the built-in tuner the...

Make sure you have a good connection from antenna to TV. Check antenna and cable and cable connection to TV. Select DIGITAL button on TV remote when wanting HD channels. Remember HD channels are always digital. Also, any given TV station may not be broadcasting in HD at a given time. They can broadcast in digital but in standard definition sometimes. Your TV has a built-in DVB-T tuner. Try executing a channel scan to pick up all available channels. On-screen menus go to Digital Setup, then Digital Tuning, you can auto-tune or manual tune channels. The TV should take a few min. to scan thru available channels and store the channels its finds. Check with anyone in your area to see if they get HD channels (it is possible to be outside of the range of some TV stations) Your TV is a 2006 model and should still be compatible with local digital TV broadcasts but keep in mind digital signals could change in the near future (DVB-T2) and you may need a tuner/converter box to make the TV compatible.

No carrier signal

Your area TV stations may have already switched to digital. If that's the case you will need a digital converter box. I'd check with your local stations to find out.
