Why does my flat screen tv turn on and off by it self and the only way to stop it is unplug power cord?
Occasionally, over the last several months when using the remote to turn off the television, the small blue light (bottom right corner) turns red to indicate the television is off and then turn blue, then back to red, and on and on. Using the remote and pushing the power button would usually turn the television back on and then it would accept the power off button. Today, when I powered off the television, the blue light went to red, then the red light went out(like it was suppose to) and then the red light came back on, then off, and continued repeating this pattern. Side buttons nor remote affected the television in any way. Is this a common problem with this brand of television? Is the problem in the set or the remote and is there a part that can be replaced by us or is this a professional job only? We have had this television approx. 6-7 years and it has been excellent, never any problems until now. The model number is: TLA-04641C and mfg. date was 06/07.

This is an indication that they capacitors in the power supply are going bad.

Is the power supply part replaceable? If so, where can I find one? Are they expensive? Is the power supply part replaceable? If so, where can I find one? Are they expensive?

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.
It's not unusual for this type of electronics to only last a couple of years.
I have the exact same problem and am seeking a solution too ... it won't boot past the Vizio logo on the screen and the remote and side buttons won't work :(
Check ur power source?Yes,than unplug, replug tv about an hour later. The tv,will reset it self back to factory setting.Tv should work now,not than the power supply board is dead. That the board, where the power a/c cord plug into it.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
Resetting the TV If the buttons on the remote AND the buttons on the TV case do not work (channels do not change and you cannot open or navigate the menu), the TV has stopped responding. Reset the TV as follows:
NOTE: Some TVs have a reset button. If available and accessible, try using the reset buttons before using the steps below. Using the reset buttons can save time.
1.Unplug the TV power cord from the power outlet. 2.Unplug any connected devices (DVD, Set-top boxes, etc...) 3.Press and hold the TV power button for five seconds. 4.Plug the TV power cord back into the power outlet and turn on the TV. 5.Open the on-screen menu to confirm that the TV is responding again. 6.Turn off the TV and reconnect the devices. 7.Turn on the TV.
This is going to sound pretty elementary, but my guess is that the power cord is defective. That TV model is relatively new (I have a similar one, bought about 8 months ago) and presumably is still under warranty.
I would have the power cord replaced by a repair shop.
if your tv is on warranty take it back to supplier for another.if the warranty has expired have a tech repair your tv the Audio,or power is defected good luck.
