How do I, get the outer bag off to replace it.

I have taken 4screws out around the handle. But the bag won't budge. Afraid I will tear it up. Don't know what I am doing.

Debby,
Do you have a bag dock that holds your paper bags? If you do, squeeze the bottom of the part that goes around the bag opening so that you can remove the hinged part and then you can spread the first part & take it off & then remove the bag. If you do not have a bag dock, there is a "U" shaped metal clip that goes over the opening on the connector assembly. Remove that clip & that will allow you to remove your bag. Hope this Helps!

How do I replace the OUTER bag on my Oreck XL2200?

Depends on whether you have a bag dock or not. If you have a bag dock, squeeze the inside part where it hinges and pull off the outer part, then spread the inner part and pull off of the handle tube. Then you can pull the outer bag off of the same handle tube connection and then disconnect from the bottom. Installation is just the reverse of taking it off. If you do not have a bag dock, there is a "U" shaped clip that goes over the top of the bag connection on the handle tube. Use a flat blade screwdriver to pry up on the clip and pull it off. You can then pull your bag off the handle tube and disconnect at the bottom and replace your bag. Hope this helps!

Blue plastic bag holder on oreck upright detached - how to put it back in?

Amy, not sure from your description whether the outer part is what came off or the smaller, inner part came off. If it is the outer part, all you need to do is squeeze the two prongs of the inner part of the bag holder together and slip the two pegs into the holes on the outer part of the holder. If the inner part came off then you have to spread it, so that it will go over the opening on the handle, and then follow the directions I gave to install the outer part. Hope this helps.

I have an XL Silver Upright Vacuum with a docking Station. Bag will not stay on and dirt & dust builds up inside the Vacuum. Big mess to clean out. Also vacuum is hard to push. Is it because BAG...

The docking station is not on properly...Make sure that you have the outer (permanent) bag pushed down over the lip of the vacuum. The docking system needs to be behind the lip also. This keeps both the inner and outer bag firmly attached. If it is hard to push, you may look into replacing the roller brush. They start breaking down..kinda like a toothbrush. It will make it extremely hard to push.

I need to remove the outer bag from my Kirby upright. The inner bag was not attached and there is mung everywhere.

In order to remove the outer jacket from your Kirby do the following.
Detach the top bag clip from the handle support. There is a plastic piece, just below the outer jacket, called the mini emptor. Turn it to the right to remove the entire bag assembly. Removing the outer jacket is dificult and even harder to put back on so this is what I would do.
Unzip the outer jacket as you were going to change the bag. Remove the paper bag. You will then see a long black tube, that has a 90 degree elbow at the top. That elbow is attached to the inside of the bag with a snap type strap. Remove the strap, then you will be able to move the tube, while you clean out the inside of the bag. When finished put everything back where it was.

I bought a Kirby Diamond Ultimate G on ebay and I'm happy with it but the outside bag smells strongly of cigarette smoke. How do I clean the bag so I don't smell smoke when I vacuum?

Greetings from GoVacuum,

Actually you can even wash this outer bag in the washing machine under a gentle cycle. It's best however not to put this in the dryer, but instead let it air dry completely before using it again in the vacuum cleaner.

You can remove the outer bag by first unclipping the top of the bag from the handle. If you look up at the top where the vacuum bag and the handle meet, on teh backside you can push the arm that the bag connects up into, allowing the bag to fall down. Then you'll need to remove the boot, or the mini emptor part at the bottom of the bag.

Standing on the side of the vacuum cleaner, with the bag right in front of you, grab the plastic boot part of the bag with both hands, and rotate the boot away from the vacuum cleaner, or counter clockwise until it is released from the vacuum cleaner. It may take some elbow grease, but this boot will come off I promise.

Once you have the outer bag off of the vacuum completely, make sure to remove the inner disposable bag first before washing the outer bag. If you'd rather not throw this into the washing machine, you may also just let the outer bag sit in a sink or tub full of hot water and simple green, then take it outside and use the garden hose to rinse it off. Again VERY IMPORTANT do NOT use the vacuum again until the bag has completely dried.

The handel is becoming wobbly where it connects to the vacuum. I am afraid it might break

Sadly it most likely will break. However, a temporary solution is not only easy and workable the down side is it's not that pretty. Just take a standard 3 foot wooden dowel (any hardware store) 1/4 inch in diameter and some duct tape. Put the dowel parallel to the handle and wrap the duct tape around both the handle and the dowel from top to bottom.

This has extended the life of ORECK's notoriously weak handles for years. Hope it helps.
