Fill a cup of hot water and vinegar for half an hour then clean with a brush, rinse, boil once with clean water.
Use it for lime juice and hot chocolate for few days.

If this is kettle - not beer, and tap water taste correctly, it may be sediment in the kettle, or if this is brand new kettle, need to be boiled over.

new kettle:
1. fill maximum allowed water, squeeze quarter of lemon juice in, bring to boil, allow to cool down for 10minutes, bring to boil again and totally empty it.
2. rinse well
3. fill again maximum allowed water, boil again and empty it
4. rinse again

fill and use as you would normally, this slightly acid solution will remove all traces of oils and conservants which kettle "survived" during production process.

old kettle with funny taste or smell
1. empty it and rinse well
2. fill it with "normal" coca-cola (that is with sugar and rest of tyeh "blessings") to maximum allowed level, allow it to stand at least 6hrs, sloshing and stirring it from time to time, better still, let it go for 12hrs (overnight)
3. empty it and rinse well
4. repeat procedure from "new kettle"

rather strong acids in coca cola will solve most of the calcium build up in the kettle, will release therefore binded chemicals which chage the taste/smell of the tea or coffee

hope you do enjoy your coffe :-) do not forget to vote...

Hi. My new tchibo coffee maker won't brew the large sized coffee, instead only giving me about a tablespoon in my cup. The other sizes work fine. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hi there! I'm sorry to hear that your Tchibo coffee maker is not brewing the large size coffee properly. Here are a few suggestions that might help:
  1. Check the water level in the water tank. If the water level is too low, the machine may not be able to brew the large size coffee.
  2. Make sure that the coffee filter is properly inserted into the filter holder. If the filter is not inserted properly, the machine may not be able to brew the large size coffee.
  3. Clean the coffee maker. The coffee maker may be clogged, which can prevent it from brewing the large size coffee properly. You can clean the coffee maker with a mild detergent and water.
  4. Descale the coffee maker. If the coffee maker is not descaled regularly, it can build up calcium deposits, which can prevent it from brewing the large size coffee properly. You can descale the coffee maker with a descaling solution.
If you have checked all of these things and the large size coffee is still not brewing properly, then you may need to contact Tchibo customer support for further assistance.
Here are some additional tips that might help:
  • Use fresh, cold water. Stale or warm water can affect the taste of the coffee.
  • Use a good quality coffee. Cheap coffee beans can make the coffee taste bitter.
  • Grind the coffee beans to a medium-coarse grind. A too fine grind can make the coffee taste bitter, while a too coarse grind can make the coffee taste weak.
  • Clean the coffee maker regularly. A dirty coffee maker can make the coffee taste bitter.
I hope these suggestions help!

I have a Keurig b145 given to me I purchased some new kcups They taste funny. I am wondering if there a filter that needs changing or what in the b145? It has not prompted me to descale it.

try using only distilled water, tap water has minerals in it and can cause buildup and harbor bacteria YUMMY
give it a good cleaning first.

Strong plastic smell and taste on a new Keurig Platnum coffee mak

I had the same problem and I discovered that after running 3 resevoirs full of water through the machine at 192 degrees , it got rid of the plastic smell. Set the cup size at the largest size mug and then just open the lid and close it , hit brew and let it fill the cup. Dump the water in the sink and repeat until you go through at least 3 resevoirs. The smell should be gone by then.

Coffee tastes like rubber / plastic - brand new Keurig Platinum - any suggestions?

After getting in touch with the Keurig folks - I tried their solution. And... it worked! The coffee this morning tastes wonderful! Here is what they said:

To get rid of the "new brewer taste", we recommend you flush three reservoirs of water through the system. Please add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar to the first reservoir of water. To do this, follow these simple steps:
~ Open and close the handle to simulate a brew cycle (without a K-Cup)
~ Press the largest cup size and brew a cup of water.
~ Repeat the process (opening and closing the lid, then brewing) until the reservoir is empty.
~ Flush two more reservoirs of water through the brewer in the same way.

This process will clear any lingering odors or flavors and allow you to enjoy an unadulterated cup of coffee.

I put in 6 cups of water and only 5 cups brew. It

The amount of water you put in the carafe isn't the same amount you'll get out of the coffee maker, as some of the water is normally lost as steam vapor during the brewing process.

I would also look at the water level gauge inside the reservoir or on the sight gauge to make sure I have added the right amount to make the amount of brewed coffee I want.

As to the filter pre-soaking issue, it shouldn't matter since you likely made several pots since then and the filter has likely expelled any residue already. I would run a full pot of just water with a filter in the basket, just to see if you're getting a full carafe after brewing, making sure you have a full reservour to begin with.

As to the grind of the coffee, I find that a medium coarse is best for all but expresso coffee. However, you might want to experiment with your grind settings until you find the setting that makes the coffee to your likeing and taste. Coffee is all about what you like to drink, so take some time to find what you enjoy.

I use a high-end filter for all my drinking and coffee brewing water to get the best possible taste as it does make a difference.

My nieighbors have the same coffee machine and use the same coffee brand, etc., but don't filter their water. They've noticed the difference and always comment that they need to get a filter for their water.

When I run white vinegar thru my machine, I always run at least two (2) full pots of plain water thru the unit before I start making coffee again, to rid the reservoir of any vinegar residue.

Hope you find this helpful and best regards!

Keurig only brews about 2-3 oz. of coffee.

Doesn't sound like a descaler issue. I am having problems with mine and noticed that water is flowing back into the reservoir when it is pouring into the coffee cup. I think there is a valve that is not closing properly.

Mr Coffee Maker FTX25 - coffee tastes bad

Try running a 1/3 white vinigar -2/3 water mix into the brewer, let it brew, then run several pots of clear water through it. This should clean up any bad taste.

Cuisinart DCC2000 quits brewing after 1or 2 cups

Finally, I got my coffee pot to run through without stopping several times. To fix it I had to run vinegar through eight times! Never before has it taken so many cycles to clean out a pot. It is still spluttering a bit so today I am going to get more vinegar or maybe even CLR and run it through a few more times.
