It sounds like it's over heating. Check to make sure the cooling fan is working and try blowing out the area where the cooling fan is with canned air.

There Are 3 Fixes For This Problem, 1 Is To Insert Your Windows XP CD And Boot From It Then, Say Repair When It Asks And It Will Put Your Shutdown.exe File Back On UR PC.
The Second Way Is To Download Win XP Utilities And Click Repair Windows Files.
The Third Way Is To Run Some Program Which I Forgot The Name Of That Checks Your Files Are Intact. That Should Be In Control Panel And Is Also On Vista.
Also If You Have Vista You Can Put In Your Vista DVD And Click Repair This Computer Or Whatever When It Asks.

this is happening cause it wasnt turn off proper and it is stuvk in a loop ..try to get all power off including battery .put it back and power it ..if it does the same you will have to open it and remove the ram memory and the bios battery and put them back and will work ..
