Either the computer came with a recovery disc, or during the boot up at the HP screen thre should be some options. Typically F11 will get you into a recovery partition which should allow you to re-install Windows. This will wipe out any data you have.

How do i reset my hp dv5 to factory default?

Probably a F10 or F11 from boot, possibly another F key, try to read the screen if you miss something reboot it and try again. Otherwise sometimes manufacturers store a Windows System Image and need to be reset via Windows Repair, probably reached by Advanced Options for Recovery.

Power on computer and it says enter password? is their someway i can reset this?

If password appears before Windows starts, will require complete laptop dismantle to remove cmos battery for 1 hour.

If it appears just before Windows starts, go into safe mode and control panel / passwords / remove password.

Hp dv4000 screen turned pink now black

If its not the backlight inverter or cable. It will be the LCD screen itself. It seems the shop you took it to isn't really up on laptop repair, as this is a common issue I see often. Get on Ebay and find a screen for your model and replace it. I asure you this will fix your problem.

Hi,
Try soft resetting the laptop .
1. Disconnect the Ac adapter
2. Remove the laptop battery
3. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds
4. Reconnect the power adapter only and power on .
5. If the laptop starts fine , reinsert the battery back

Thanks
