Philips 26pfl5522d/05 TV Channel issue

Just been on Philips Forum and there is a possible very simple solution. Press and hold the MENU button ON THE TV for about 20 secs. This should factory reset TV and allow storage/retrieval of channels to the '8k' store. See this page for more detail:http://www.supportforum.philips.com/en/showthread.php?1366-26pfl5522d-05.
Now I have to ring my Dad who has exactly this problem!

Philips 42PFL7662D problem

I come across this every day with LCD Tvs.What it is, is dust between the layers of the LCD. When dust particles settle behind the front layer of the LCD, and the LCD is pressed i.e when cleaned, the layers can be pushed together, resulting in a shadowy streak. If the LCD is stripped and cleaned it will be ok.

Digital channels have stopped working, only blue screen!

Try resetting the TV:

  1. Switch on TV and switch to any analogue channel.
  2. On the TV: Press and hold the MENU button.
  3. Menu screen will appear on the display.
  4. Do not release the MENU until the menu screen disappears.
  5. TV will go blank for about 60 seconds and then display initial set up screen.
  6. Follow the on-screen prompts to re-tune the TV.
If this does not work then the problem is likely to be a loose ribbon cable or main small signals board inside the TV.
