This problem I've had myself But it will only solve the problem if your cell uses a sim card. When the sim cards go bad thats whats happens your hear them but they can't hear you or vice-versa.
Try taking a small needle and gently clearing out the mike hole near the end of the boom. Anything I am outside and sweating a lot mine will clog up and I have the same trouble until I clean it out and then it's fine. Do not insert the needle in very far, all you need is to clear the outside opening a bit.
